because I pumped up my tyres!!!
Ive been meaning to get a tyre pressure gauge for ages now and yesterday finally got one.
I should also point out that I have not checked my tyre pressure(s) since I got the Pirelli’s on about three months ago, stupid I know but hey its honesty time as someone may learn from this.
Any noobs reading this go check you tyres now!
The bike feels so much better now. Turns in quicker / smoother and give so much more feed back.
Feels like a different bike!

Yeah my mountain bikes the same.. all sloppy like in the mud when i don't have enough PSI.

Good find

Bloody oath mate. Finally got around to getting a gauge myself just a couple days ago, sure enough, they were a bit low. even the 4-5 psi i put back in them made a HUGE difference to the feel and response on the road.

Incidentally, i had to travel to 4 different petrol stations before i found one with a working air pump, wtf?

Petrol stations are grocery stores now.....services like that arent on the top of the list of things to provide and maintain......2 choc bars for $6 is.

I put fuel in the tank of my bike the other week - it made a huge difference too!

Check your pressure regularly - do it before you take off, when the tyres are cold.

All of which will have given you a completely different reading (if they were all working).

Get a pump for home and a decent gauge.

I got a Michelin foot-pump thing (from Repco) for not too many $$$. (Don't remember exactly, but can't have been too much if I bought it).

It came with a built-in pressure gauge, and for bunging a few PSI in the foot pump isn't too much work.

Best 'tune-up' you can give your bike is air in the tyres!

I am told it is also good for blow-up dolls - gives them that O back in their smile :woohoo:

Also pays to have a puncture repair kit on standby, the tiniest prick will pop those things

Yeah, i finally got myself a gauge, which is why i finally went and pumped them up. i dont trust those things as far as i can throw them (not far considering they're bolted to the ground), so wanted to be able to check as soon as i'd pumped em. didnt wanna end up even worse than before! :)

i did search this topic before posting and i did find a lot of info but it was pretty old and some of the newer guys / gals here dont use search and its these people that need to know this stuff.

i still cant get over how different the bike feels.

my tyres only last 2 months, i dont think they can deflate that quickly?

Yep! I've fallen foul of neglecting tyre pressures, and it's true, the bike felt wonderful afterwards, for all the reasons stated above.
Another little bit of advice I was given was to re-adjust the angle of my clutch and brake levers so that they became an extension of the angle of my arms (wrists). That too made all the difference to comfort levels.

Both the above tips were on my previous bike (ZX9R). But I've applied them to the CB since.

Sheesh some people got no sense of humour :innocent:

I do agree with you, the correct tyre pressure is important and makes a huge difference which is why one should buy a guage and check when cold.....

Just wondering how much off are the gauges on the pumps at the petrol stations? Are they really that unreliable?

Some are some aren't - it really depends on age, abuse and design. $40 bought me one of those Dunlop footpumps with a pressure guage on it. Does me just fine :).

Air in the tyres
Petrol in the tank
Oil in the engine
Oil on your chain
Tension your chain
Top up your battery

Basic stuff on the to do list each week.

Yes, most are very unreliable, especially the hoses with built in gauges that can be dropped and are, over and over again.

I heard of a guy who took a blow up doll back to the shop cause it kept going down on him. The shop owner was stunned and replied that they usually charge more for that model.

I heard he tried to give her a wee lovebite on the arse but then she farted and flew out the window. Apologies to W Connelly.
