Just thought if anybody was interested the 650X is NOT going to be released in little old NZ, just got off the phone to them and they have decided not to bring them in.
So after having a great run with a GT250 of 55555 km in 17 months it looks as if I might have to look at another ah well.........

Bastards!
And stupid. Just as Naked mid size bikes take off, the Koreans bail.

WTF not?
You see heaps of Hyobags around so they must be selling!?

The GT650X looks like yet another lightweight Brutale knock-off (yawn) but Hyosung's 'Trend Killer' (what a stupid name) concept cruiser with the same engine (http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7694/2647/1600/HyosungTrendKiller1.jpg) looks quite cool.
A V-rod with half the power and half the weight for a quarter of the price. Works for me.
*Puts it on the "bikes for Stickchick to buy so that he doesn't have to make excuses for owning one himself" list*

Because and I quote "we havent had enough inquiries from the dealers" and "because it is a competely new bike they want them to tried and tested overseas first".
I have thought of importing one myself but I am going to run into parts issues if anything goes wrong

Why just import the parts as well?!

It's a bloody Hyosung.
Not worth owning if you can't treat it as a disposable two-wheeled transport appliance.
Personally importing something from overseas is not treating it as a disposable two-wheeled transport appliance.

Because if anything goes wrong with it I dont want to be waiting for weeks for the parts to turn up as I use my bike everyday (55555km on current GT250in 17 months)
and just by the way it IS A HYOSUNG and I have had no problems with it in the last 45000km

I don't think you'll have any issues with parts. It's mostly a GT650R with no fairings to speak of.

The frame, suspension & body are all new apparently and of course the engine is injected so.....

Yes, but it will be the basis of the next gen GT650R - I reckon you'd be fine.
I'm surprised because I know at least three people including me, who asked Fergus @ TSS about the GT650X.

Ferg told me he had 4 people interested including me and he wasnt getting anywhere with them which is why I decided to ring and try and get an answer.
Only thing is I know that I am "a guinea pig" now with the amount ks (since apparently nobody else is anywhere near in this country) I have done on the 250 and so I am a bit wary of something completely new and possibly doing more ks.
I have now found out that parts can be supplied x Korea within 2-4 days delivery by importing them personally and not going through "the chain"

Not too surprising. NZ is a very small market, and most of the manufacturers only bring in what they think they will sell. Guess that's why we haven't had any Hornet 600s.

Very true, I am aware that we live in a small tinpot country which doesnt mean anything to anybody else BUT if that is the reason then Kawasaki should say so.

If they were to bring in the 650X what price would they put on it? Always fancied a Brutale but beyond my budget and the 650X doesn't look half bad to my untrained eye and limited riding experience.

Must ask him next time I go in :)
(not that I can afford a new bike at the moment)

They are about to be released in the UK for 4000pounds apparently. I did here that the figures in NZ would be around $11000

Ooh ouchy. My 636 was a only a few more grand than that brand spanking. Will stick to only looking at some retros at the moment then.

Not sure if the X model is even produced by the factory. Anyway you can go: www.bikebrothers.com.sg. Think they export new Hyosung motorcyles.
