Has anyone used or heard of anyone using canola oil in there air filters, what you have to say about it?

canola oil that ive used for cooking doesnt seem anywhere near as sticky as filter oil. so id say its shit. the stickier it is, the more of the shit is going to stick to it and not go thru your engine

I'd stick with filter oil in the Kato mate... nothing worse than blowing an engine just to save a few pennies here and there aye!

Cam's probably right... it wouldn't even stick to the fiilter very well and would probably get sucked through the engine

there was some mention of this a little while ago in one of the dirt bike mags.

Vegetable oils can oxidise and you may then end up with a nicely varnished air filter,which you can place on your mantel piece to remind you to stick with the recommended product.

Only use raw frozen ones. Then, after a few hours, the canola oil seeps through the filter, heats up through the combustion process, then gets kicked out into the hot exhaust pipe, thus cooking and beautifully frying the french fries. Saves weight and time taking a packed lunch.

You can also run V8 vegie juice in your tank too.

interesting subject, tonight i thought i'd see if i could fry the sausages in castrol filter oil just to see if the two are interchangable, i'll let you know how i got on later as a sudden need to pay a visit to the long drop has just kicked in !!!!!:doctor:
