ZXR intake tubes?

Hello I am just rebuilding a 89 zxr 750 I want to bin the metal micky intake tubes on the tank, if I do will this affect the intake to carbs, if so what do i modify :crybaby:

On the 250 they do nothing...but on the 400 i know they did goto the carby's so i assume they do on the 750 also.....

i would leave them on it

you are going to loose a fair bit of grunt otherwise...

worth about 12hp on your bike maybe more...

i know the ram air on the side of my ZXR250 add's 6hp.....

i don't know how it works with the tank ones on the 750...but yeah itll still run fine.

probably just too rich at top end though.

will guzzle gas like a mother fucker if u take em off.

if you do ditch them though, don't bin them sell them, they are worth alot of dosh....

they almost always get munted in crashes.

and any money you can get back for unused bits on a project means a lower build up cost, which means more money for petrol...

On My old 91 ZXR750 they did nothing for the carb's they were just a throw back to the Endurance racing models where they were used to send cool air onto the top of the head to aid cooling. Should have no effect on engine performance

The are purely cosmetic from memory,remove the tank & see if they
connect to anything

Yup, Montsta56 is on to it, the airbox is at the back, not connected to the tubes, the hoses send some cooling air to the top of the engine, no ram air sorry.

Montsta & Sedge are there, but Yeah they're airducts to cool the head but if you do remove them remove the air dam that bolts to the tappet cover & cradles on the headstock bracing otherwise it's going to get warmer in there and send that to the airbox intakes
