Cruising down to Whakatane from Auckland today, came accross a whole heap of slow moving Tin Tops just before the Karangahape Gorge. They were travelling at speeds around 70 to 80 kph with a truck leading the way.

A sign said passing lane 400 metres and so I waited. When the passing lane was reached, all the Tin Tops moved into it but they were only as fast as the Tin Top in front. I stayed in the left hand lane and passed the lot of them and even the truck that was in the front.

That was so funny and I am sure there were a lot of pissed off Tin Top operators.

Yep the Karangaheke gorge is good for that, there are quiet a few corners that you can do sneaky overtaking trix... :msn-wink:

The gorge, my old proving grounds.
Yeh you really need a bike that has a kick in its guts otherwise you just get stuck there.
Tell you what - since most of the good chaps down there ususally give bikes room. If you get a case of a prick that wont, boot it, and give em a finger from me. Then make the next corner look easy :headbang: :cool2:

Good to see I am not the only one who has had more luck with the left lane on passing lanes due to the idiots out and about :bash:
