Hamish had to work Sat till midday, so I came into town with him and met up for coffee with CSL at the cafe next to Wgtn M/cycles. Saw Deano and a few other (non-KBers) also.

Left town just after 12, called into Motomart and bought a new set of Diablos for my 1000 (don't need them, but they're a good price, see the thread on trading). Got home, changed, and on the road by 1.00pm.

Went to the top of the hill, where Bugsplat and HerB-4 were too. Nice yellow Ducati t-shirt Chrissie, I'm not sure I'll need to give you accessory-buying lessons!! Stayed there for a while. Nice weather. Velox, Hayden et al came up too. Zapf turned up - I said to Her_B4 "I wonder if this SV is the KBer who's bought one from Wanganui" and sure enough, it was. Nice to meet you Zapf - hope the rest of your journey was good.

Hamish, Bugsplat and Her_B4 decided to go for a blast round Lake Wairarapa, but I decided to just stay at the top chatting.

We left the summit about 4.15pm, saw Mark Dunn on his way up as we were heading down.

Sunday dawned a brilliant day - no wind and blue blue sky. Met up with about 10 others at Caltex. A good ride over the hill (watch the roadworks at Te Marua/Kaitoke - they've ripped up some of the seal and there's some nasty gravel at the northern end). Regrouped at Featherston and went down teh western side of the lake. Karl on the Darmah had a bit of a problem - a duck flew into his path, directly in line with his headlight - score ended up being one dead duck and one dead headlight. Apart from that a good ride to M/borough, coffees and food all round. VTWIN arrived minus bike. Matthewt had to shoot off back home.

I've run out of time before having to get ready for work - Bugsplat or HerB_4 - are you able to carry on if you get a chance pse?

Yeah yesterday morning was great for a ride up the Rimutakas.

I was going well up the hill until I came around a corner and there was Matthew coming the other way giving me the "slow the hell down" signal. Thanks Matthew.

About four or five corners after I was wondering what the hell he was going on about and started to speed up again, and there's another biker coming towards me giving me the "slow down NOW" signal.

Good thing, as there was a broken down bus on the side of the road and a policewoman standing in the middle of the road.

So I was a little out of my groove after that and just as I was starting to push on, I was overtaken by a nice blue Firestorm.

That was just the motivation I ndeeded - off after him and for the first time on the 'takas I got the front wheel in the air out of a corner - you little ripper!

A great day for a ride, and I got home befolre the weather packed in.

I must have missed a few people by not much over the weekend.

I saw Linda & Hamish on saturday, although I was on my mountain bike along the river bank.

Sunday on the way up the hill also spotted the broken bus, it had only just stopped I think when we went past. All the little old ladies were just getting out.

We headed down the Western Lake road as well after a brief stop on top of the hill. I had a near miss, with a turkey of all things. Damn thing decided to run out in front of me resulting in a big lock up and lots of smoke off the rear wheel.

A stunning day though, we got home about 30 minutes before it started raining.

The birds must've been plotting something this weekend - I got huge whack on the chin of my helmet by a sparrow yesterday.

Hi Lynda,
I may have bumped into you at the Hutt petrol station on your way home Saturday, I was standing behind you at the counter to pay (if that was you) with the wife outside by my bike admiring your Ducati :D
This was just before we went up the hill, then come down and got up close and personal with the road works :pinch:

Damn, I do remember seeing a CBR600 at Caltex Sat avo - I was very focussed on getting home, as we were running late. I don't recall seeing you, but I do remember seeing the bike with your wife standing beside it. Sorry, I normally at least smile if not say hello, but I was irritated with myself for running late.

Have talked about the roadworks in your thread about them.

Birds and bugs together. I had a sparrow fly into me on Saturday and then 4 kms down the road I think the whole bug population in New Zealand had to come out and fly into me, not nice. :thud:

I thought that was you. When I came down the police woman was standing behind her car. I didn't think she'd bust anyone but I thought the bus being parked there was bit of a risk given how fast some bikes go up that side of the hill.
