Getting the bike set for a WOF, with nice new front tyre, everything working, get there, and they discover a crack in the swingarm.
THEN - spending 6 months tracking down the best option of either a weld/repair job, or replacement swingarm - locate Verlicchi swingarm (in Japan), purchase (thanks Ok!Shon) and get it to NZ, fit it - need more shims to cure side play, so wait for bits - shims arrive, get new swingarm fitted, discover original hugger won't fit - after cutting bits off - think "what the hell, I'll mainly be riding in the dry anyway...), so continue assembling.
THEN - get to last item (seat), and as I'm doing up a screw, the screwdriver slips, and just taps the tank... ...and pissssssssssss goes a stream of gas! :argh::shit::shit::shit: CRAP. Pulled the tank off, and gave things a sanding, to discover the arse end of the tank is rotten. It was just the paint holding the gas in!. Now I'm looking for a replacement tank.... for $350 - $2k depending on whether 2nd hand original or new carbon fibre...
Shit. And I was all set to scoot off and get the WOF and rego done on Saturday, and catch up with the Northland tour.:weep:
The only good thing is that it didn't start leaking in the middle of some fast thrash somewhere, where it would have been peeing gas over red hot engine bits... :pinch:
