Is it just me, or is any else also looking outside and not particularly anticipating the ride home today?
Its pretty bloody windy on Molesworth St - the Canadian Embassy has put up their 2 x3 foot flag instead of the usual 6 x 4...

Parked the scoot up this morning on The Terrace about 8:10 to find only a dispersed number of scoots and no bikes. Found that particilarly entertaining as it's harder for a scoot in this kind of weather (light-weight, widdle wheels, no aerodynamics). But then again the scoots parked looked like city dwellers.
Only saw 1 other bike (GN125ish bike) on the m-way, who was belting down the left break-down strip... not a good look mate & a sure fire method to make enemies of cagers (IMHO).
Wind gusts looking out to the m-way by the Aurora Tce overbridge are nasty. Not looking forward to my trip to Tawa tonight if this keeps up. Might need to weight myself down some :D

and a $600 for riding in the emergency lane, rather than $150 for illegal overtaking if they decide to do you for lanesplitting.
There's all sorts of nasty stuff in the breakdown lane too...

Yeah - I'm a bit worried about the big Macrocarpa above our house. Last week a branch came off and took out the clothes line and it wasn't even this windy. Worrying thing is that my bike is in the garage right next to the clothes line.

i was coming home from an exam bout an hour ago. Was doing around 50km/h and it felt like i was doing bout 100 but things were moving so fast. That wasnt so bad, but when the huge rain drops joined in it wasnt too fun :thud:

I'm not particularly looking forward to riding home this afternoon :(
Almost got my wheels blown out from under me the other day on the motorway just before the terrace offramp!

I’m hoping my MX pants are still on the line when I get home!

It's funny, innit. I notice that the bikes owned by people who are most likely to give others shit for owning a scooter or small displacement bikes are the first bikes to be left in the garage in bad weather: Harleys and sports bikes seem to dissolve in rain and blow away in the wind.
Mercer Street was full of scooters and a couple of standards.

Planning on leaving The Terrace about 5:00 and travelling to Tawa (DC Fitness).
One of my biggest fears on extreme windy days is being blown over the side of the motorway, over the railway area by the Cake-Tin. That and falling in front of a car/truck/bus.

The MTB wheelie almost went horribly wrong as a sudden gust of wind made me go off into a bus's path. That wasn't too nice... The poor bus driver probably got a horrible fright as well.
Pedaling up a steep hill with a strong gusty head wind wasn't too great either.

The MTB wheelie
Please tell me that MTB isn't an abbreviation for Mo Tor Bike...

Please tell me that MTB isn't an abbreviation for Mo Tor Bike...No no, it was on a pushbike. Hence the pedaling uphill bit. Consequences of a mishap would have still been the same in that situation though.
I am glad that I was lucky enough to learn the lession of not wheelieing in windy conditions next to traffic without hurting myself.

Made it home... just.
It sure wasn't fun...
Like I've said before ZZRs really don't like the wind :(... Nearly sailed off a few times... Like that scene in twister, "look ma, a flying cow" "no son, It's just a big bike with an idiot stuck to it"
Ah well, I'm home and alive, now all I need are some new underpants. (again!, I'll have to start byuing them in bulk, it's been a rough few days on the old undies I must say)

It wasn't windy when I came in this morning (6:30am) but it poured down from Petone to just out of Wellington, I really mean POURED !!
Didn't seem to bad on the way home except for the jam caused by people gawking at the cop that looks to have pulled over a car on the no-stopping park of the motorway.

It's a northerly, you don't feel the pain till you hit Tawa and Porirua by the Police college... yikes. Hope it cools down by tomorrow... Big waves on the coast road, don't see that very often either. I reckon I'll just wear my over jacket and sail in, should save a bit on gas eh ?

Yay for the jam though as the m-way for me from about Tinakori off-ramp to just past the ferry terminal is hell in the wind. As it was I was almost knocked over at a crawl by a rouge gust... I named it "F*cken Frank!" at the time. Not a very rougeish (sp?) name, I know.
Got out of the gym about 7:00ish to sun & blue sky - go figure.
