Is it just me, or is any else also looking outside and not particularly anticipating the ride home today?
Its pretty bloody windy on Molesworth St - the Canadian Embassy has put up their 2 x3 foot flag instead of the usual 6 x 4...

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Well it better piss off by 8:50am ish tomorrow morning. I've had enough crap landings at wellington airport for a lifetime.
If its one thing I hate its riding in the wind.
We are 5 floors up here and the windows are doing there usual moving in and out![]()
Parked the scoot up this morning on The Terrace about 8:10 to find only a dispersed number of scoots and no bikes. Found that particilarly entertaining as it's harder for a scoot in this kind of weather (light-weight, widdle wheels, no aerodynamics). But then again the scoots parked looked like city dwellers.
Only saw 1 other bike (GN125ish bike) on the m-way, who was belting down the left break-down strip... not a good look mate & a sure fire method to make enemies of cagers (IMHO).
Wind gusts looking out to the m-way by the Aurora Tce overbridge are nasty. Not looking forward to my trip to Tawa tonight if this keeps up. Might need to weight myself down some![]()
Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
and a $600 for riding in the emergency lane, rather than $150 for illegal overtaking if they decide to do you for lanesplitting.Originally Posted by DebK
There's all sorts of nasty stuff in the breakdown lane too...

working on the road and have my little office to sit in.
keep it safe out there people![]()
Yeah - I'm a bit worried about the big Macrocarpa above our house. Last week a branch came off and took out the clothes line and it wasn't even this windy. Worrying thing is that my bike is in the garage right next to the clothes line.![]()
Windy and squally here. Will be taking the 4wd to work...Originally Posted by celticno6

To every man upon this earth
Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
i was coming home from an exam bout an hour ago. Was doing around 50km/h and it felt like i was doing bout 100 but things were moving so fast. That wasnt so bad, but when the huge rain drops joined in it wasnt too fun![]()

where opinion holds more weight than fact.
It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
I'm not particularly looking forward to riding home this afternoon
Almost got my wheels blown out from under me the other day on the motorway just before the terrace offramp!
I’m hoping my MX pants are still on the line when I get home!
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
It's funny, innit. I notice that the bikes owned by people who are most likely to give others shit for owning a scooter or small displacement bikes are the first bikes to be left in the garage in bad weather: Harleys and sports bikes seem to dissolve in rain and blow away in the wind.Originally Posted by DebK
Mercer Street was full of scooters and a couple of standards.
Look, it's an itsy bitsy Bandit.
Planning on leaving The Terrace about 5:00 and travelling to Tawa (DC Fitness).
One of my biggest fears on extreme windy days is being blown over the side of the motorway, over the railway area by the Cake-Tin. That and falling in front of a car/truck/bus.

The MTB wheelie almost went horribly wrong as a sudden gust of wind made me go off into a bus's path. That wasn't too nice... The poor bus driver probably got a horrible fright as well.
Pedaling up a steep hill with a strong gusty head wind wasn't too great either.
