if so, what did they think of it?

its been for sale for a while now, and the kms are high (78,000)
how long do the chassis/frame on these bikes last? or is it just moving parts that will be a problem (wheel and steering bearings, swingarm, engine, etc)?

I like the fairings and exaust setup, and no pillion seat wont bother me as i dont have a full licence yet (do have an exemption for a 400 though)

Any info on it would be usefull.

frames not an issue...only gsxr's do that.

Age doesn't bugger things as much as neglect. I would expect the suspension bushes/bearings to be getting old and sad, but they're not impossible to replace, but can be costly. The money isn't so bad, if it seems to go healthy enough I'd hit it for sure. Maybe at some stage the heads will need freshening up, and that's not cheap, but not crippilingly expensive either. So long as you don't drop it, the cosmetic side is well sorted, so it's only maintenace things like chain/sprockets/head bearings/tyres that you'll spend your money on. I'd get it in for a full service (no matter what the seller says has been recently done) and just cane crap out of it :yes: My 2c

vfr is a nice bike....nice to ride....same with the rvf nc35 ....havn't ridden the rvf as much as the vfr nc30 though.......

Thats pretty much what i figure too.
Id try to get a wreck as well and rebuild the other engine for when the first one gets sick.

Replacement disks and calipers - it's had the front stacked into a car
After-market exhaust - it's been crashed.
1st NZ owner - so what...he got a jap import and stacked it.

Don't fall into the trap I did! I got my VFR as it was the nicest looking on trademe (and a bit cheaper), and I dropped it the day after getting it. Then I had a cosmetically and mechanically shit (I was soon to find out) bike.

Get something with <30,000kms. If you want MotoGP-like looks, save for a 600. I would do so in hindsight.

It's worth 3 grand tops.

3 grand is about right for a down payment.

Disks wear out by 60,000kms so it's fair enough that they've been replaced (I had to replace mine at great expense).

And if it's had a spill, avoid. Mine had a spill which was why it had been tarted up. I thought 'well surely they've fixed everything'. No, I was too trusting. Front wheel is buckled so the breaks phase strong to weak so my head gets shaken off braking from 100kph. This has worn out the headstock so it has a fair bit of play. The subframe is also crooked.

I should've ditched it long ago, instead I've spent half as much as I originally paid for it again and it's worth half as much as I got it for. The great irony is the previous bike I ditched due to thinking it was going to die on me my friend bought off me and is using it as a commuter...

And I fought so hard to get rid of my depression. All in vain

while the way it looks did catch my eye ive been looking at VFRs and RVFs for a while now. And I like the idea of a VFR with the RVF usd forks (benefits of both) with the lower price tag.
Im not going to fork out all my cash just because it looks pretty, I did that once when I was younger (and stupider) and learnt a lot from it, like dont do it again.
I wanted to know if anyone has seen this bike in the flesh as its a bit far for me to go just to have a look at it.

Dude, seriously, a vfr for 5k thats got 78000 on the clock will cost you a shite load more even within the first year than spending an extra 1k on the far superior RVF.

As I said I dont intend pay $5k for it, what I wanted to find out is if anyone had seen it, and what their opinion was.
Morcs, believe me i would love to buy your RVF, and wouldnt hesitate if I had the cash.

As with any bike, KM's is no indication of condition.

My VFR has done 79,000km's and is running as sweet as a nut. The standard forks & shock were crap (it's a K model) so I swapped them for later ones. I did the head & front wheel bearings at the same time.

Front discs are still good too. I'd pick that one to be worth $4500 if it's mechanically sound; it sure would be a pretty thing to own.
