Not another tyre thread! :shit:

I've worn out my avon Viper Sports, and have been very happy with them. Warm up quick enough, good feedback for my riding and bike set up, and grippy enough in the dry and wet. Most riding is on the road, at "normal" speeds, occasionally to the edge of the tyre. 105hp-ish.

but I like to try noo things, so has any one who has liked the vipers moved to something else that was as good or better? (or worse)....

I know everyone has their favourite and/or loves the tyres they're using now but you lot can stfu :bleh: I want to hear comparisons from people who like viper sports and have tried something else (or know what they're talking about.)

chur.

I moved from the Vipers to the Conti-SportAttacks. I'd recommend that

of course, I then moved from the Sport Attacks to the Race Attacks. But one step at a time..

I've just had a Viper Sport fitted to the front of the Blackbird. Previously had Storms all round and have been very happy with them but the Avon importer wanted me to formally evaluate the Viper Sport on the front. Apparently superb in wet conditions like the Storms. They are particularly good for heavier bikes because of their strong carcass construction but there are undoubtedly other great sport tyres for lighter bikes.

I'm particularly interested in front tyre life. The last Storm rear lasted just under 8000 km and as long as the Viper lasts as long, it will be fine.

BTW, the Viper is also available in Supersport and Xtreme compound.

yeah, I did actually. And I agree with the things you said about them; good feedback, warm up in no time at all, hard wearers etc..

my opinion between them and the Conti's; the conti's don't warm up as fast, but when the heat is on, the conti's have an edge over the Vipers. They both seem to wear roughly the same, but I had the Vipers balling up easier than the Conti's (might have been a suspension set up at the time). As for feedback, again, the Conti's just seem to have a little something more than the Vipers. I did love the Vipers. I felt fast on them, and planted. Don't think I ever doubted them once. However, I did get my knee down for the first in the damp with the Conti Sports round Taupo, which I would never have bet on. They just gave me that nudge more of confidence over the Vipers. I probably would still get Vipers again, if I wanted to move away from the Conti's

just my 2¢

Damn. Where were they when I put my last tyres on? I'd have been happy to offer the service. Now I'm doing it for free.

The Viper Sport on the front of my RF is doing just fine, thank you.

Don't get me wrong I've loved my vipers. Took me a thousand or so km's but once used to them I trusted them fully. I just like to try new stuff even if i risk gettign something worse.

Read a couple of reviews of the conti's this evening - some good reviews and some mediocre ones. They came last in a superbike mag test, but it was a blind short term test, and who knows maybe a good tyre needs getting used to.... in the same mag the powers came top and while most drool over them I know some who hate them with a passion. The bridgestones came 3rd and look at the opinions on here...... The vipers were 2nd to last.

so bugjuice, unless someone comes in with some awesomer advice I think I'm going to take your pick. If i dont like them I'll find you at a trackday somewhere and :girlfight: (j/k)

:2thumbsup

mmmmmm
interesting
consider for future reference the advice from you guys to what would be a good tyre for my ride.
I am fully open to suggestions and reasoning behind such
1979 XS eleven yamaha.... yeah you all know the beast
heavy as with heaps of 4 cylinder power,
presently running a pair old Shenko rubberbands, seem to be ok for the old girl.
But what of the future?
Gimmi some feed back on what you suggest for next summer?
information always leads to informed decisions on the best siuted application for the required ride
cheers

Let me know when you want to step up to the race attack at an extremely reasonable price
