mushy brakes on 2005 speed triple - anyone experienced this?

Just been doing some research in my ongoing quest for a new set of wheels.

Seems like quite a lot of 2005 Speed Triple owners have experienced quite severe brake fade during normal usage.

Any Speed Triple owners on here experienced this? Anyone point me towards some more info?

So should I assume that none of the Speed Triples in NZ have this problem? Excellent.

Cant say i've read about that before, but I dont see why chucking 675 pistons in there shoudl resolve the problems.

If it's bad, disassemble the brakes, clean. Replace seals, clean pistons, reassemble. Bleed. Change pads to sintered metal. Replace lines if neccesary.

I know TWO the english bike mag had problems with the brakes on the triple and from memory it took a couple of goes for triumph to fix it. Probably under extreme road testing tho.

I wouldn't call it a brake fade issue, but more an excessive lever travel issue. The official fix is to replace the pistons with coated pistons. Here is a link that should give more info.

Well, hard info seems to be a bit difficult to come by, but the implication is that certain models were a bit suss for some reason or another - there is talk of coatings on the pistons on some brake assemblies, but not others - which means the usual fixes you've listed have apparently been tried, and are only temporary (works for a couple of weeks, then you're back to square 1).

I'm trying to work out if its an overblown storm in a teapot, or if there's a grain of truth behind all the smoke and mirrors.

prior to Vin: 253302. Speed Triples made after that have been fitted with the new coated pistons. The same pistons that are on the 675 Daytona.

I read your post, I followed the link, I blinged you for the info.

One of the reasons I asked the question on KB originally is because google led me to that site on sunday, but the info on that site isn't available unless you sign up as a user - the thread is not available to the general public.
