Hi there, want nu handlebars for the SV to replace the alloy woodcraft one that I bent on sunday. I went to a local alloy engineering specialist and he reckons he cant get it. I want one handle bar and a spare, if anyone has some material floating around our can point me in the right direction to get it I will be much obliged (in the Tauranga area or be willing to courier).

no problemo, though it can be a triffel expensive. Go to your local dirt bike store,

I think you can see where this is going, but you will get 2 usable sections

Go to Mico and you should be able to get some 22.023 aluminium tube its the exact size you need. They have a minimum cash sale of $25.00 so it will be better to buy a whole length(5.5metres) at about $27.00 and then you have enough handle bars for the rest of your racing career(hopefully)

Oh I thought the stuff you could get here was too thin wall thickness. Well might have changed.

Just get either 25 mm and machine it down or get the 22 mm (7/8 is 22.2) and then apply 2 x twists of tape the the clamp area. This then allows the levers etc to turn around in the event of a crash and yet still stays located enough for riding.

You could also go to Ullrich Aluminium, did you want a solid bar,if so ask for "free machining rod",or hollow ask for tube of the closest dimension, then get it machined

Hey Barry , I guess aluminium tubing is quite expensive, but can you give us an idea of cost to make a set of just straight flats ? I just bought a set of standard steel chromed Ventura jobbies a couple of weeks ago,
Retail was 50 bucks. Gaz.

Just buy carbon fibre ones. They will last a while.

You'll find both Mico and Ullrich catalogs online they both do 22.2 but only in wafer thin wall thickness. Something like 1.6 wall.
