Hello,

As some of you may know, EJKDDORAI went on a little ride to the far north. I told him to keep updating me, and around 10.30 this morning I got a txt saying he binned it, and is at Kawakawa Town, and his tank is leaking, and his throttle is sticky. Bike obviously not rideable, however it does 'work'

Is there anyone in the vicinity able to provide any assistance? Send me a PM or post here.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks DMNTD, I've forwarded the details to EJ, but he says his bike is getting fixed by local mechanics and that he's probably gonna continue cos it's nothing major.

well it appears that villan was some wet train tracks in kawakawa causing a 30km/h bin im guessing the width of those fxr tyres had to give

I just hope he gives the Mangamuka's the respect they need...yet enjoy them for what they are...PORN!

Oh hell yeah!!! :punk: :punk:Them twisties are sooo sexy... But I'd really hate to take them lightly!

Mangamuka's

My vote for far and away the best section of SH1 in the North Island.

(Haven't ever ridden or driven SH1 south of Christchurch, so I can't make the assertion for the whole country, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.)

Glad to hear EJ's in one piece. Now there's a man who needs a Proper Motorcycle, stat.

Yup them tracks got me a beauty a few years back. I bought an accident damaged/ridable GPX250 and rode it home -thanks to those tracks it was er "more " accident damaged

Wouldn't have been any better off with wider tyres hitting tracks the wrong angle.

One of the few things wrong with an FXR is the stock tyres - they are CRAP. Their size, however, has nothing to do with it. Just cheap, nasty hard compound tyres. Not sure if EJ has stockers or not...

Yeah those tracks are bad no matter what you're riding.

I know what you mean about those tracks - over the years, I've seen a few bikes hit the ground trying to cross them.

He's not gonna enjoy the Mangamuka's today, :cold: - it's pissing down from Whangarei all the way to the Cape, and has been for a few hours, and looking at the rain radar - it will be for a few hours more... :not::sunny:

I'm glad I gave him a bottle of HTFU pills the other night!

Told him if he could keep continuing his journey no matter what, he'll be right as rain (I guess I shouldn't have said that last part! :o)

Experience will be good for him, nothing like a road trip to the back and beyond (relatively speaking) to get his voice to stop squeaking and grow some hair on his chest ... :slap: Feck. He's asian. Disregard.

I can guarantee you that SH1 south of Chch is the last place you want to go. I doubt you'll find a longer, flatter, straighter or just more boring piece of road outside of the US.
The last bit coming into Dunners isn't too bad and I dunno what it's like south from there.

Those tracks at Kawakawa are deceiving..... you have to hit them straight on even in the dry or end up with a bit of a "tank Slapper"...... ma Bad Northland roads aren't very forgiving :headbang: (its part or their charm and UNFORTUNATELY sometimes their downfall)

i tell you now the fxr150 is not a tourer

seat like a bicycle and you're cranking out 10 of it's 12 thousand rpm to sit at a reasonable speed

plus SHITTY stock tyres

mind you, if you stay on the twisties none of that matters anymore it's so damn light and because you're shifting around on the seat it even gets comfortable

I've done Auckland to the Cape and back (in one day ) on a 4 bhp BSA Bantam.

It's not the bike, it's the rider.

I told him to stop in the nearest marae and say that he was a korean investor that was looking for a new possible retirement village for elderly koreans! :devil2: j/k ... but you know sillier things have happened!
