View Full Version : Who rode up alongside me?

Got caught in traffic on the way out last night (close to 5:30) and a bike rode up next to me and the guy (with a wicked moustache) said hello and something about good bike weather. I do apologise if I don't know who you are... was it you Merv? I was too stunned by the friendliness of the moment that I didn't get a good look at the bike (was it a VFR?) or say too much. Only managed to just get my visor open before you disappeared and "split". I only split when the traffic is stopped or I'm late for somewhere so envied your confidence not to care ;)
Cheers for the wee acknowledgement & chat - had a big grin on my face until the end of my trip.

Not me, I take it easy and take the train. Haven't had a moustache since 1975 either. Whoever it was, good on him.
As for trains, this is where I was on Friday travelling between Strahan and Queenstown in Tasmania all in the name of work eh! Rains over 300 days a year there - a bit like Fiordland - you can't have rain forests without rain.

Cool train Merv. My husband has a wardrobe full of N-Gage trains, carriages & buildings. There's a wee train in his collection that looks very similar to that in your pic.
Didn't know that Aussie had rainforests.
bear - very nice of the guy but very surprising at the time. We should all slow for a quick hello. Makes it a nicer day.

When ever a biker pulls up beside me or if I pull up I always say "hi..... and do a quick chit chat" - depending on how long we have to wait til the lights take to change....lol.
Sometimes its only long enough to say "ride safe out there" and "nice day for riding" or "which way you heading?" :sunny: :spudwave: :niceone:

I agree, and I long for the day I can... It's just impossible for me, so I don't bother. Don't take my lack of answering to any of your guys as being rude.

Open road/motorway wind noise + no hearing protection = long term hearing loss.

My pick'd be you FS, going from a lumpy grumpy red VTWIN to a turbine like blue I4 - i suspected something was up. Your other personality is far more constant. But lets put it to the test eh?
How do you feel about this? :moon:

Know it's getting off the initial subject but, you are sooo right Blakamin. Did you do much riding in that area ??
When we shipped our bikes over to Queensland in July 2004 we ended up riding to Cape Trib (Or is it Cape Treeeeeb ?) Some great roads up there, especially after getting off the vehicle ferry - it was just an idyllic ride.
Some have the myopic view that only NZ has great motorcycling roads. Not so. Plus there is something about cruising into a town you have never heard of before and checking it out a bit. The small towns (and their pubs) have a lot of character. The downside is that there seems to be a hell of a lot of Aussies there.
After PI this year we drove the campervan to Sydney the back way - via Omeo and I then vowed to come back on a bike!!!!!!!!!!
Am getting costs/feasability now. Might take the LC4 if Denise doesn't want to come - and do some dirt roads as well. :scooter: :scooter:
What a life!!!!!!!!!! :niceone: :niceone:

I have never owned an I4*, and the last one I rode was an RF900 last year, when I was looking at a replacement for SlartiFartBlast (or was that FartySlutBeast?)
The VifFerrari is a V4, you moron!
I've owned 3 V4s now, one V-twin, and 3 singles.
Vs rock!:spudbooge
(Or should that be "boxer twins rock"? )
How do you feel about this? :moon:What is it? Can't tell from this angle...<_<
* Apart from 4-wheeled vehicules.

Or you both have multiple personalities and are forced to share one because lets face it, good personalities are hard to come by these days

Really? :killingme If you have many goats with beards, then that means you have some without beards? Who then has the glorious task of shaving goats? And, just for laughs, do you ever shave only the sides, and leave a Goatee? :D

Hey, THERES a coincidence, just did mine too, I find earwax gives it just the right amount of rigidity but leaves it flexible enough to look natural  :msn-wink: :D

A Stalk... I mean secret admirer?
See guys/gals, this is why Harley Riders / Gang members wear patches... I bet Harley/Gang guys don't have to sit at home on www.harley.co.nz/learn_to_wave/ or www.wannabegangsta.co.nz and post "who waved at me, cmon I wanna know" hehehehe :Punk:
I put forward to you, that SpankMe should make a small dinner plate size patch, for the backs of our jackets, maybe even with our names on it? :first:

Damnit, can't make the BBQ.
'Tis the season to be jolly hungover though so posting some morning after cures at some point might be fun. Someone should start a thread.
Nah, not a stalker. Just a happy rider. Thought it may have been a KBer, but maybe not now. I won't scribble on anymore about it.

I didn't mean stop posting, I was just being silly :blah:
Hey, a few weeks back I was in the KB_Mobile and someone on a scooter waved at me, so I posted and asked if it was anyone here... It turned out to be Ms BungBung. The day before a rider and pillion waved, turned out to be someone WhiteTrash knows, who knew me from JazBug5's Halloween party. Everything is connected in Wellington.
Next time they do it, open the throttle of the Dragster, and thrash it like the mechanic at TSS told you to, and catch the rider :niceone:
