They look awesome stock! View at not as a stand-alone bike, but a stylised manga version of the first GSXR750/1100s, then you will see.

As you see I am happy to admit to having one of these - see my profile pic. The tailenders were sold at 10k and Suzuki ran out of them about December 2004. I got mine in Oct04 for $9k as it had 600km on the clock (by the shop boss).
Lots think of them as ugly, but I see it as distinctive. I have only changed the screen to a smoked one (original is clear). Overall I find it does all I would ever want, cheap enuf to run (18.5km/L) but has take a while for me to get used to a heavier bike.

They look sooooo much better in the black/red colour scheme. Similar to the old Heron Suzuki GP bikes.

The (digital) speedo stops at 180, even though the bike keeps accelerating. So I've been told.

What brand is that top box Malcolm? Did it bolt straight on or with a bit of modification?
Great pic - was it summer? No looks a bit wet for summer.

It is a Givi box. The details behind the fitting are in http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=7425
Not quite summer. Try late June, but it certainly wasn't wet; Have a look at http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=31488

In factory "mode" they are limited via speedo but I understand its a pretty easy fix so there are plenty out there that go as you describe.

Correct. When new, the speedo and speed went up to 180kph. With the speed restrictor removed (the resistor from DS as mentioned and can be done by the bike shop) the speedo will still only read up to 180 but the bike will go faster (up to 240kph apparently).
