Just had a 20.000 service done on my bike. When I picked it up I wanted to ask the mechanic a few questions, but unfortunately he had gone for his lunch away from the premises.
I was wondering just how long the brake pads would last from here on in. Can anyone shed a bit of life on the subject. I have tried to look to see if the wear groove indicator on the pads. But I can see stuff all of the brake pads. Any comments will be welcomed.
Cheers
Huck

What type of riding do you normally do ?
Commuting/weekend blasts/track days ect... ?
What brand and type of brake pads are they ?
Softer/harder... ?
Depends on how hard you'd normally brake ?
What condition are your discs and calipers in ?
Has it been serviced ?

Brake pad life is completely related to your riding and type of pad.
Unbolt one of your calipers from the front fork and check the pads out. You wont break anything...

I am just a Sunday rider that uses the gearbox to scrub of most of the speed if I am going to hot into a corner, etc. I haven't a clue what kind or make of the brake pads. They are the default pads from the manufacturer.
I will take your advice and take a front caliper of and have a shufti. Cheers

Most of the time you'll get away with peering front-on at the caliper, you should be able to see how much pad is left.
CB's Sporty has 34,000km and still the original pads.

Both our bikes have twin-disc front ends, no problem seeing how much pad material is left without taking the calipers off.
Owners of other brands may/may not be so lucky.
