just after suggestions of a nice place to stay in wellywood, preferrably with a spa, for a weekend away in may. within walking distance to the opera house. am looking on the aa site, but its hard to judge by photos and dressed up descriptions, so personal experience is requested.

please and thanks in advance!

What's your budget? That's going to afffect things. Check some of the hotels rates - they run some good specials at times - especially off peak and non holidays and weekends.

That's pretty close to Mermaids, however I'm not sure how warm the water in that tank is, judging by the erect nipples. Sorry, ummmm, with spa bath..... hmmmm, will have a think about it.

Apparently. Not too sure about the Opera bit though. Surely there's somewhere more exciting to go than Wellington.

Accomodation depends on what sort of thing you are looking for. As has been said the Duxton's probably the closest. A search on Mr Gore's interwebby would be a good choice.

Intercontinental is slightly further away than Duxton but you can get a spa bath room with separate shower with twin shower heads - we stay there at times when we can't be bothered with the trip home and they do good weekend package deals - valet parking too. Also you get free rubber duckys to share the spa with you and a few now grace the cabinet in our ensuite at home.

Guff on website http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/ on normal daily rate for king size spa bath room says:

Intercontinental would be about an easy 10 minute walk from the Opera House. You OK with directions?

If you can wait a bit longer try some of the online, last minute booking sites for really good deals at hotels
http://www.ezibed.co.nz
E.g $175 for a room at James Cook normally around $320. But you can only book up to a month in advance.
Or www.needitnow.com.au
$196 for a Musuem Hotel room.

We swear by Hummingbird on Courtenay place - just been there again for dinner tonight, the service is perfect. http://www.hummingbird.net.nz/main.asp?pid=156&sec=156&speed=1

You just choose the portions you want to eat so you can suit the needs of your appetitie. Tohu Sauv Blanc was good too.

We just walked in the other night because we were very early before going off to our function at Motorad. Weekends I'd say book.

If you're staying at Intercont did you ask for special weekend package or anything coz they can toss in free wine and chocolates, parking and late checkouts and stuff like that depending on their offers at the time.
