Fines range between $150 and $500.

At least they're trying to do something. Rest of the world might call it illegal, but does anyone try to force cars to take notice?

Maybe slapping a fine or two around - and having the police to do it (no camera is going to care about bad driving) - will allow bikers a little protection?

Or am I being way too optimistic?

The laws a nice thought (if it applies to us) but,

1) as McJim said, its illegal already
2) all very well having the law, but if it isn't enforced, it isn't worth the paper its written on.

We have red light running laws, and red light running occurs all the time, because cops like to spend their time trapping people doing 1-5kph over the limit. Yes, its easier to get a guaranteed ticket, but its that exact attitude partly responsible for the bad red light running. Anyway, :Offtopic:
