Poor bugger on Newmarket Viaduct - was this you?

This morning around 11am I couldn't figure out why the NW m/way link to the southern was backed up way before the Newton Rd off-ramp. Surely not Easter holiday traffic already??

I reached the Newmarket Viaduct finally and discovered the cause - there was some poor bugger sitting on his bike (broken down?) on the right-hand shoulder of the right-hand lane, hard up against the median barrier. An older guy on a cruiser-style bike with an L-plate. I imagine that he might have been copping some flak from impatient motorists. I would have loved to have been able to help in some way but I was towing a trailer in the "fast" lane, with baby and dogs on board.

I noticed that... It was backed up from all directions. Poor guy. Shit lane to break down in.

I was coming through Spaghetti Junction on my way to the shore yesterday, same thing, traffic was at a crawl at the start of peak hour traffic. Found that a truck had dropped some long metal strapping stuff over both lanes and cars had slowed to a crawl to go around it or drive over it slowly. Another biker and I stopped, got off our bikes and casually pulled all the metal off to the side of the motorway while the traffic stopped and waited for us to finish. I must say it felt strange walking on the motorway in front of an army of impatient cars in rush hour traffic.

Took off and got a wave from the truck driver who had parked up a little way down the road, obviously deciding how to deal with his 'incorrectly' secured load that had spilled over the motorway.

yeh we noticed as well didnt know what it was bout but could see the jamb from the front of the work shop (right under the southern end of the bridge) took a while to clear looked like couple a truck drivers stopped to divert traffic around him from what we saw.

It was a DOG trailer - should you manage by some miracle to be able to get a bike inside it, it would soon become canine fodder, capice? :rolleyes:
