Hopefully everybody is aware the MNZ board is getting 4 members elected this year. 2 off road, 2 on road. One of each from north/south island. It all sounds a bit boring but it's very important the we choose good candidates, nominate them, vote for them and most importantly SUPPORT them when they get elected.

See the MNZ site for details. The cutoff for nominations is 31st March.

It's crucial that we, the riders choose the best people to manage our sport. If we "leave it someone else" we'll get the quality our apathy deserves. Probably some well meaning but thoroughly "well past used by date" medal wearing, self important tosser with affiliations to some obscure old boy networks. Sound scary? It could happen. So get moving and get a HIGH QUALITY election process underway.

Once the candidates are finalised, all their details and voting forms go out to EVERY member. Make sure EVERY member sends one back!

And let's get some good old electioneering debate underway, so MNZ old and new KNOW WHAT WE WANT.

Let it rip, but remember, keep it CLEAN and POSITIVE

Good luck finding anything on the MNZ website.

Good post Oyster, cheers for drawing our attention the situation. I can't help but wonder why MNZ has not advised all it's members that this is going on? Especially now that's there's only 6 days untill nominations close.

QUESTION ASKED- QUESTION AWNSERED EASY REALLY

Hi Shaun

Paul has passed your email onto me to respond to.

As per our Constitution nominations for all vacant officers of MNZ close on the 31st March 2008, in terms of the Board there are the following vacancies – 2 On Road Positions – One South Island Representative and One North Island Representative, and 2 Off Road Positions – One South Island Representative and One North Island Representative.

With regards to notification of vacancies for the Board, this was done as per our Constitution and advertised on the MNZ website, we also sent out notification to every Club and Official by way of circular.

Members have not yet received voting packs as nominations have not yet closed. Every MNZ member will no later than 20 working days following the close of nominations be sent a voting pack, voting closes 10 calendar days before the Annual General Meeting.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Vicky Simm

There was some info about it in an agm pack thing that came out ages ago from my hazy memory.
Oyster is right, it is important to be pro-active, I'm kicking myself a wee bit for not having a good look at it.

Just a point here --WHO nominates these officials ?
What Im saying here is we bitch and moan that "they" aren't doing a goood job etc --Isn't it about time we organised nomination of someone that maybee has the ROAD race peoples best interests at heart.
Keeping in mind that these are unpaid positions.
If he wasn't so busy I'd love to nominate gremlin

Sorry guys, I should've posted this up earlier. This info has been on the MNZ site for a while now, but, of course there's no garantee everyone gets to know of it.
Over the last month or so down south we've "spread the word" around, with the view that if we can think of people that might do this job really well, then tap them on the shoulder.... Then of course, support them. It's that the best people are already pretty busy, and reasonably, they see such an appointment as getting a target painted on their back on day one. Not pretty.
So, you see our job as a community. Find someone, support them.

When a few us like minded ones travelled around NI Nationals we were on the lookout for someone up there as a good nomination. It's not the good people that are scarce, but someone keen to do it. In the south we have a good candidate we think, and we've certainly discussed it that he'll get our full support. Now it up to the northerners (urgently) to get someone too. Ideally someone up to date with the national / international "quality" end of Road Racing, so as to compliment our very good, but more club / development level person we have in mind for the south.

For good of our sport please get to it!

Go to www.mnz.co.nz

It's on the front page "board vacancies"

And it you have any questions, Vicky Simm is outstanding (as always) in answering detailed quetions.

I recall Shaun saying many times "we need an effective rep in MNZ, one who really relates to the riders concerns" Shaun, now is the chance!

Shaun, I'll pay your bail money in advance, right now.
Just rember the board represents (via consultation) the intterests of clubs and licence holders. The CEO is an employee, who takes directions and reports to the board. So, technically, in the pecking order, the CEO stands behind a 6 year old who got his licence yesterday....

I think you're the man Shaun. The key thing is that we, the riders, all support you so you can do your job well, and with confidence. You have honesty, respect, integrity and most of all, a passion for the things that count.

I guess everone has their pack from MNZ. We were meant to have them less than 20 working days after closing of nominations, so mine wasn't too late.
Remember your vote must be in by next Thursday, 15th May. Please vote!!!
Both North and South have two candidates. I'm not telling you I'm voting for, but I'm pretty keen on the Board Members being accessible and looking for consultation. So I'm voting for the ones who are comfortable with giving out their contact details. Figure it out......
I asked MNZ if the candivdates were available for open forum debate. no answer. The same question asked of the site www.nzsbk.co.nz, who put up profiles. They said they couldn'd, as they'd been instructed by MNZ to "not get too political"
So if you've got questions? Well let's get into it here on Kiwibiker and let the candidates know they can join in the discussion.
