Well, I’ve just fitted a Pyramid double bubble screen which arrived yesterday from the UK ($210 delivered). Only took 6 days from placing the order – great service. Took just over an hour to fit being careful and it’s really rigid and looks great too.
Some double bubble screens, particularly coloured ones and iridium tints have caused heat damage to instrument consoles. Obviously the problem is becoming well-known judging by the warning in the packet even though mine is black:
“Due to the optical characteristics of this screen blade, it is possible that direct sunlight will be concentrated into a small area, like a magnifying glass. This could, in rare occasions result in damage to other external items. We advise you, that the screen should not be placed stationary in direct sunlight”.
Err…. so it’s alright to actually travel in direct sunlight then, but you're in the shit if you stop for a nanosecond? Maybe we should travel in moonlight just to be safe. Japanese Engrish, methinks!
Took my wife to Taupo for tea tonight and was really impressed with the greater protection. I'm 5'8" and there was far less turbulence than with the stock screen. I'm almost certain there's a bit more road and engine noise compared with the original screen but I'm equally sure that it's because there's less wind noise. No big deal as I normally wear ear plugs.
Jennie noticed that there seems to be a bit more wind blast to either side of her if she shifts about which could be right judging by the pattern of cowshit droplets on the screen after overtaking a stock truck - who needs a smoke tunnel to check aerodynamics. :shifty: :shifty:
IMHO - a great buy.
