So umm...who's got a reasonable priced F3 racebike they want flogged? Will even consider hiring one as I'm finding I ain't got the time for spannering.

I have my orange coloured lemon that I don't seem to use nearly enough.

What events are you thinking of running in?

VMCC winter series and perhaps the PMCC next year (hopefully I can talk them into running a formula 400 class). F3 and if it's old enough pre 89. Bang per buck the CBR has given me a LOT of enjoyment last year.

However, I get very very stressed doing even simple spannering and at the moment seem to be working regular 70 hour weeks (not complaining, I LOVE having my own business and most days it doesn't feel like work) so I just don't have time to fark about in the garage (plus there is the fact I'm totally #@$ckin useless at mechanic things). Ideally if I could talk another kiwibiker racer/pit-bitch into just dealing with the bike side of things and throw some peso's at them for the trouble then I'd be a much happier bunny indeed.

I hear that some perverts out there actually enjoy working on bikes so my way of thinking is that I'll do the job I enjoy in order to pay them to do something they enjoy. Whilst money isn't exactly abundant, if I have to pay an extra couple of grand or so a year to never throw a spanner at my bike or deal with parts departments then so be it. I know I'll take a lot of flak for this post but I enjoy the racing and don't want to detract from that.

How purty is your bike and roughly how many of your finest kiwi peso's would you take for it?

Frosty's still got his faux-Britten SV650.

He might be amenable to some such arrangement.

Sometimes I wish I was pretty because then all I'd have to do is take a shower with someone und "Hey presto": sponsorship!

But I an't.

Scratcha'd be pretty if he had a shave and wore a clean shirt. Maybe he could try a similar arrangement.

Im one of those PERVERTS dude:clap::beer:

I think your attitude to the work/Prep side of going racing is brilliant, if you are not mechanical, do not do it, you could hurt yourself or some one else.

If you lived near me, I would love to prep your race bike for you, I do get a bit hit from a job well done on bikes, as I know how important quality preperation is!

Guys/Gals,

Been gobsmacked at the response. Inundated with offers via the private message thingiemibob and folks using the old fashioned telephone. Makes me wonder why the hell I've wasted so many hours in the garage stripping threads trying to fix things myself.

Please don't take offense if I haven't got back to you. At the moment I'm taking up the offer from with someone who has most of the CBR parts it needs and who can store the bike for me.

Clive...I've still got the brand new 530 smaller front sprocket that I purchased in error if you wanna lower your gearing.

Nice burn there my savage Scots buddy (non-shower).
Mate I have a 525 chain and want to make my gearing higher so I can own the Cliffhanger 400cc flying quarter in September. I will need to do a 520 conversion soon anyway.

I think the 525 will go on the 530 sprocket. Methinks my chain is 520 so there was a lot of time wasted wondering why it wouldn't fit.

You wanna make your gearing higher? Surely it wasn't revving out in top goin up that hill? Blardy ducati could barely pull into 5th.

As much as I have been raised to respect the frail and elderly...You may need two shower caps. One for your heed and one to cover the shame and embarrassment. I'm in.

Not for the Hill climb. I just need a better mind for that. For the flying quarters.

I have a cunning plan......
Get scracha on side to then use his bike to do the sprint :devil2: Beware the evilness of the mechanic

I was also raised to respect the elderly Clive so i demand more respect from you in future OK.

As for getting a better mind for the hillclimp , you may want to start with a layer of mind retention covering to make it possible.

As a safety net i can always let Nicky ride it in the sprint and then youll be beaten by a girl too nah nah na nahna. Even your slipery yellowness cant beat a power to weight benifit hehehe. Ohhh this is going to be fun.

Nicki , new rule for the winter series , ya not allowed to break the bike till after Sept lol, we got a challenge going here. :chase:

I have recently been informed of a sprocket mod that all the fastest guys have. I will now be filing every second tooth down, thereby reducing sprocket weight and the drag caused by excessive air turbulance from sprocket teeth. I have no doubt that this is the performance edge that I have been lacking. *visions of holding trophy aloft while grid dollies smother me in affection*

Im gonna kill the bastard that told you of that hot rod mod Clive, shit secrets are meant to be just that arnt they ?

BUT... i am sure you havnt tried the best mod yet , hacksaw every second spoke out of the wheels to lower the unsprung weight to the optimum level.

If you really want to borrow my sprockets then i will relent and offer you my 12 tooth front which should suit your rear one just nicely  honest.

On a more serious note , how fast is the record now as it stands ?? and are we talkin just the flying record or the standing start 1/4 mile ?
Cause i like top speed more than just wizzy acceleration.

Let me know when ya coming for the 12 tooth Clive :pinch:

Your a good mate Farty, but I'm not stupid. I know that the spoke removal mod on a 5 spoke alloy is likely to reduce the life-span of my wheels. It's probably a strategy designed for wire spoked wheels. The much smarter plan is grinding away half of each spoke. Reducing weight and hardly affecting the structural integrity. Eh? Thanks for the 12 tooth too.
Any chance of getting that tub of vaseline back? I reckon if I coat my leathers it will give me a couple of kmh at the top end.
I think young Koba might have the 400 flying quarter record but can't remember what it was. It wasn't that fast really.

We Just talking flying.
212kph is my best, the first cup winning effort.
Altho earlier Doug King took a modified FZR out that did over 220 but it isn't clear wether it was actually under 400cc or not.

Clive had a much faster standing last time with a 12.49 to my 12.99 or something like that but the 400cc cup is just about the flying.

I hope to go faster agin this time...

Perhaps we should make a new thread about this for trash talking and the like instead of junking up Stevies one.

I dio hope we see a good turn out of 400s show up for a good battle, now that the timing system is more rifined we get a better idea of the times as the day goes on rather than a result at the end so it makes it more exciting. :woohoo:

But I aint proud. The only way I might be able to keep you and the other 400's in sight is if you have mechanical problems.
