dangerous
10th December 2004, 18:50
well if any of you lot from the Chch chapter of KB want to take a spin to Hanmer, then Sunday it is.
Now I better say that the ride is actually a State insurance ride put together by SuzyQ about 6 and a couple of there mates sort a thing... I dont know any of them so I'll be on my best behaviour

I was just talking to Manuboy and we reckon that if the group goes straight there then we will most likely take a more interesting ride home like via Waiau/Cheviot or Scargill maybe..... but it dosent look the best on the weather side of things and Manuboy said that if it gets cold then he will pike.... shezzz typical, toughen up boy :shake:

Details are 10am at the Peg Pub Belfast leaving at 10:30 or my place over the rd at #xxx prior to that time.

Broke my Collar bone, so no riding for a few weeks. The ZXR250 dindn't take much damage, nothing an hour in the garge won't fix.

yeah man sorry bout all that aye.... i did warn you about that road...... can catch the best of us out.
Shit from what I saw it was a mess the top half of the fairing was in a different heap to the rest of the bike, Mike with the streched Zed is out there now bringing it home for ya....... did you take the meat wagon all the way back to ChCh hospital?

Glad to hear you're not too badly hurt カワサキキド.

A full write up would be nice when you're up to it.

The "unknown suzuki" is a VZ800K4 Marauder.

:first: Mike dropped of my bike about an hour ago, just the top front fairing is broken and the bracket holding the gauges on is bent, other wise it is fine.

Basically I came over a crest in the road to hot and found a blind left hander....I had a choice between lying the bike on it's side and lowsiding it or keep it in a staight line and try to scrub off as much speed as possible, I took the later as the chances of me riding it home would be higher. I had scrubed of a lot of speed by the time I hit the grass, and was sliding along nicely when hit the small grass covered mound, that I had intended to go up to get rid of the rest of the speed, but came to a sudden halt. It came down heavily in its side half way up the mound. I must have hit my shoulder on the ground trying to save the bike.

I thought it was just dislocated and tried to move it back in to place, but when I had it x-rayed they found it was broken.

Sorry man... that road probably wasn't the best choice in hindsight for a few of us... obviously the road itself can't be termed as dangerous, but the conditions meant that there was a lot of debris, combined with the fact that most of the corners were blind - all i could do was follow Dangerous's helmet...

I thought you did well not to try and follow me and D, but when we had to wait so long at the other end i knew something was up. Anyway, you're up and about which is good.

On the bright side i got to ride 30UTD's busa. *FARK*. That just isn't right. I scared myself with a mild wind-on, and when i took a quick peek down at the instruments i was only pulling 4K!!!! I've changed my mind about wanting one - far to much power.

Don't be sorry it was nobodies but my own fault, It could have been worse.
I appeciate all the asistance that was given.

Dangerous, could you ask Mike if he found out the name the clavicle specialist at chch hospital?

Is someone binning it on a KB ride now compulsory or summat?

Sounds like it was a good ride though - 380km is a good distance. That'd be about 4 or 5 stops for gas for you, eh Darryl? :Pokey:
I've gone from about 28mpg on the FahrtSturm to around 47 on the VifFerraRi. Mind you, not having to stop for gas every hour-and-a-bit means I don't have an excuse to have a break.

Sounds like you made the right choice カワサキキド. Just be thankful we're having a shite summer, it wont hurt as much not being able to ride. :)

カワサキキド
13th December 2004, 12:36
It hardley hurts at all and didn't take any painkillers whatsoever, I'm just gutted I can't ride for a while, especially since the bike is hardly damged. If my arm would work I would have had it fixed by now.

But I will be fully recovered before the open day at Ruapuna, on the 27th of feb.

380 km is normally a pretty cosy ride... except when you get 5 seasons in one day... the fifth being the canterbury hurricane special. I didn't mind the damp part but the crosswind was startin to get on my nads a bit. Standing there waiting while the ambo arrived was even worse... i almost dehydrated - i think i aged another year in that wind..

Yeah, D was pointing at his tank and indicating he was about to go dry, which was pretty satisfying since i was still 40km from reaching the fuel light hehehe. Serves him right for having the funny little "non fuel injecty things". But i do like his cute little choke "lever"..... must be cool having one of those antique bikes that don't know when they're cold... :Pokey:

p.s big ups to Mike who somehow had the energy to arrive back in chch, get in his ute and drive back to cheviot to get the bike. Well done that lad. And i thought he'd lost it before we even left when he donned his wet weather gear... turns out he's some sort of weather seer as well...

Well in the N/I it seems to be...... but thats our clean 'no bin' rep turtel up, some sort a award coming your way Kawakid.

ahh but I have the bigger tank than what you did.... just one fill up buster. Can get up to 260k a tank, but after that wee ride I rolled up the drive at 220k dry.

I think Neuman is the specialist he's patched up a couple of guys I know

Dangerous you maggot, this is the second time you've organised a ride when I've been out of town, just what is it you have against Yamaha riders?
or is my bike not clean and shiny enough for you?

I take it the road people are referring to is the Parnasuss-Waiau road?

Kick, even when you're in town, you not in town mate... if ya know what i mean.

We could bin it riding in an aggressive / unsafe manner or we could bin it laughing hysterically at your m/c... either is bad but the former at least has brag points... :niceone: :killingme :moon:

Then you should wear pants, Manuboy.

Viffer, don't cramp my style mate. Took me a while to develop the "one ball on the seat, one ball off" cornering method. An excellent weay to lower your centre of gravity. And riding thru bug swarms at speed is much cheaper than her down the road with the whip'n chains.

Just ask Dangerous...

p.s You were much nicer when you rode a red bike Furht man...

So what sort of pace you guys running at? did you meet up with the other mob? when's summer due again? hopefully I'll have my bike back on the road soon, got a "good" deal on painting my fairing bits, only thing is its umm taking a while, OK its taken way too long  , had a professional quote of $1000 + any plastic welding on top, my deal will be bottle of bourban for plastic welding, done, good job, bought him Black Label Jim Beam, + $300 for painting fairings, tank and front guard. Got most bits back after sanded so I can place stickers before final coat and clear coat, hopefully it'll be sorted by xmas

I have to correct you a wee bit - I was the one that organised the ride, not Dangerous. It was not a KB ride it was actually a ride with bikers from my work with a few hangers on!!! Dangerous took the initiative and posted the details on the site for me. Next time I will do it myself and take all the credit!!! :cool2:
It was good to meet some new people and put faces and real names to KBers.
I was fortunate to come home a different way - couldn't be bothered taking the long way home in the wind. I missed the crash but got a little wet in Rangiora. :cool2:
