Reputation bar
part 2
As many have noticed I changed the reputation bar because it was only capable of displaying up to 1,600 rep points.
I've now fiddled it again.
The rep bar will now display 3 levels of rep
<1,500 is displayed in yellow/brown
<15,000 is displayed in light blue/dark blue
>15,000 is displayed in the original light green/dark green
The reason that it changes at 1,500 and 15,000 is simply because of the way the original code is written. It is difficult to make it change on a more logical boundary such as 1,000 and 10,000 so the values I've used are a compromise.
yellow = 100 rep points
brown = 200 rep points
light blue = 1000 rep points
dark blue = 2000 rep points
light green = 10,000 rep points
dark green = 20,000 rep points

Hey - here's a radical proposal... why not just POST THE FUCKING NUMBER! If you guys are so intent on somehow representing bling, why not use the tried and true method from the last... 4,000 years?
There's only 10 characters to choose from (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,and 9) and they automatically display in a logarythmic fashion (i.e. each extra step takes a power of 10... )
Why dinky little boxes of any colour? Seems like a lot of hard work to show them, to interpret them etc. A simple 8 character field would possibly do the trick... no?
... or we could just drop them altogether...

I've rewritten it (and improved it a little I might add) so that it now displays the correct number of squares. It will now show up to 5 light colour ones before going to a dark colour.

I put to the administration, that since getting positive reputation from a highly reputed person, generates more points than a less reputed individual, that if I were to negatively bling someone, it should detract in a similar fashion.
This comes from red blinging someone who green blinged me, only to find she got GREY bling which is woethless. I am well disheartened that I will one day be back in the good books, and eagerly await your answer.
The only other option, is to be an even bigger prick than I am currently, which we all know doesn't work either, since every time I say something REALLY offensive, I get about two reds, and a dozen green.

Someone says you're being a diddle, you note they have a red reputation indicator, and write them off as a the afore mentioned male genitals them selves.
So you shouldn't be able to turn your own one off, rather if ya pay it no heed, then the option to not show everyone elses is the way to go.

Thinking slightly outside the box here, why not change the background colour of posts to signify the total rep (+ or - ) which that post has attracted.
So if (for example) a post attracted a total of 500 positive rep points , then the background would be changed to brown.
Some concomitant variation of font colour might also be required.
And if chicks are to have pink rep, then should Honda riders have brown? What about the lesbian members ?
Perhaps also, the *size* of the rep squares could be dynamically altered to have significance. F'instance, it could show the length of time a person has been a member (bigger the square, longer you been around).
I'm sure I can think of some more ideas.

The reason that it changes at 1,500 and 15,000 is simply because of the way the original code is written. It is difficult to make it change on a more logical boundary such as 1,000 and 10,000 so the values I've used are a compromise.

It'll only show a maximum of 5 light squares, so if you have 11,000 (3 dark, 5 light) you won't get any change until you've got enough for another dark square.

This is when the colours change

This is how much each colour counts for
yellow = 100 rep points
brown = 200 rep points
light blue = 1000 rep points
dark blue = 2000 rep points
light green = 10,000 rep points
dark green = 20,000 rep points
So until you have 1500 point you get yellow/brown. Each yellow is 100 points and each brown is 200. When you get over 1500 each light blue is 1000 and each dark blue is 2000 etc.
Just because you might have 1 light blue showing doesn't mean you only have 1000 points. It means you're over 1500 but haven't got to 2000 yet where you'll have another light blue showing.
