It probably is too cheap but I've been offered 8500 - 9000 as a trade and I'd rather sell it to a decent human being at that price than let a dealer make an easy couple of grand on it.

What are you looking at getting Spud??
The rebel in me wants a 2005 ZX636R. My head tells me I should get a 600cc dirt bike because they are fun without being detrimental to your licence. Common sense tells me I should buy a ute because I'm building a house and could use the practicality of one. Fucked if I know actually, I'll figure it out eventually.

Thats a fanstastic price for a TLS of that year/k's without even considering the mods. The ohlins adds another $1500 and fixes the only fault with those bikes and the exhaust is just pure BLING which sets it aparts from all the other TL's.

If I had $8,500 I'd snatch it up. Thats how much I paid for my last TL ('97 44Kms with Yoshi slipons).

I don't know why but heaps of people who sell their TL1000S seem to get big bore dirt bikes - e.g. I got an XR600 after selling mine, a guy that I sold my old KLX650 to also had sold his TL1000S. Freaky!

I paid 8 for my VTR last year ('97 with over 50k on the odo), plus a bit for some mods, and that was cheap at the time.

I've always had a thing for big singles and twins, I guess its just the big bang feeling you get from them that turns my crank.

In your job you'd better go with a 125 dirt bike as you can't behave like a rebel else we will think that its OK and we might start doing the same. The 125 will cruise nicely at 100km/hr and never much more.

Did you ever use the top couple of gears on the TL or was that too hard at 100km/hr or less?

Brave man, merv. I was going to post in similar vein, but discretion prevailed.
It might have been taken seriously...

It has stretched its legs on a few occasions. Thats one reason I'm selling it, too much shit to live with if things turn to puss.

Spud is only human like the rest of us. Im sure he has found the two top gears can go over 100kmh. All in perfectly controlled circumstances hehehehe. Supose this is a little tricky subject for you Spud. :Pokey: :)

Yeah I've asked him that kind of stuff a long time ago, because I know cops are human and that is the point I make if I ever make a point about speeding is that the law is an ass and even those enforcing don't abide by it all the time. There is no one size fits all situations and that is the problem a fixed number is irrelevant in most cases as there is no magic. I have a good safety record and prefer my own judgement to that of the politicians.

I read with amazement the story of those recent road deaths near Taupo and I hope no one on here is related to those people as the Darwinian overtones were very strong there. It can not all be put down to bad luck.

That was very sad, that case. Why the hell were they not wearing seatbelts??!! Especially given that the mother had been pulled up just a few days earlier and cautioned for not having the kids strapped in!
And also they were just returning from a tangi for another relative who'd died in a car accident.
Next day, another member of the family was involved in a collision with a car and boat trailer, however, they were wearing seatblets so were OK.

I'm sure there was no unconscious irony in the juxtaposition of these two comments, but they do highlight the whole issue which has been thrashed out (ad nauseam) in other threads. You (and I) prefer our own judgment and have the safety record to justify it. But the Taupo driver probably thought the same.

Everyone thinks they're a good driver.
It's the terms of reference that differ.

I'm surprised it wasn't snapped up PDQ - it was a great buy (would've bought it meself, if I could've.)

I was hoping the Insurance Company would cough up so I could've had a shot at it too.

Never mind. One door closes, another opens.
