Myself and a couple of mates were held at the summit by the cops while they filmed those scenes. They had this poxy yank shitter
(camaro / transam i think) with a camera on top out the targa roof and it was filmed with slow motion film or whatever as the car was going so damm slow with heaps of revs on for the soundtrack . We gave the guys in the car a hard time and they didnt like it. After the cops were gone we went down the hill a wee bit and came back to show them all how to come up the hill lol. fuck it was stoopid as they didnt give a toss about us ahh well we had fun .

Their car is a highly modified V8 Pink Stunt Trans-Am called `Shaker`, and in hot pursuit is the New Zealand secret police.
LOL!
Nice roads but the barriers look a bit dodgy.

That is quite possibly the greatest trademe listing I have ever seen:
My Son drove this TransAm into my back yard a few years ago and left it here.
When I asked him to take it away ,he said it had no reverse gear ,because a linkage had gone , so it has been preventing me from mowing my lawn for 3 years now and I would like someone to tow it away. I know the engine still goes because he sometime comes around to borrow money and I have seen him start it up.
He told me that it is made of Fiberglass & it was made for and Featured in the Movie "SHAKER RUN".
So rust is not a problem.
Q: number is on my listings, text me. posted by: cookie139 (141 ) 9:52 pm, Thu 24 Apr
A: My Son has all the Answeres to all the Questions - But he dosn't know Im selling it and I dont want to tell him. Anyway Its gone past the Reserve now , So as far as I'm concerned it has been sold.

Having worked in the motor trade in Wellington since the early seventies I can well remember that being made, so some of the information about the Capri's history is a little off the mark, the most obvious is that it is driven through the showroom window of Kirk Motors not Archer and Lupps.
Anyway that was a classic bit of footage all the same.

Just an update for the link as I see the original no longer works.

The road won't be like this for much longer with all the works going on - I reckon it'll be better though.
Funny how when they go up the Aotea ramp the next scene is them heading into Victoria tunnel. Bad editing all round really - suppose it stands out more if you know the roads though aye.

Anyway that was a classic bit of footage all the same.I was in Courtney place when they did the scene where baddies car comes down Dixon St up behind a parked car (pidgin park) with a single ramp behind it so as to flip the car onto its roof (avoiding any rear end damage to the parked car ) across the intersection of Tarananaki & Courtney sliding to a stop in the gutter for the stunt man to get out & 2 well dressed Cuzzy bros to get into the car for the next scene of them emerging from the wreck without a single crease on there suits even there sharkies didn't need adjusting.
