View Full Version : I had a great ride today

I left home for a ride this afternoon feeling a bit 'in between moods' because of a girl (what other reason could it be!). For some reason, I felt like riding on my own, so I didn't even stop at the top of the takas as I always do. Down to 'the other side' (the Wairarapa), I carefully rode a nice back road that I had already taken before and opened the throttle in full. As I ride a gentle cruiser, the thought is funny, but still, I did reach some speed previously unknown by me.

After a few moments of that relaxing 'game', I joined another road and found myself between a car and an L-plated 250. The guy in the car obviously knew every inch of that road, and my lines were not that great, so I stayed safely behind.

All three of us had just overtaken a car at a speed, well, 'barely' over the limit when a cop drove past us on the other side of the road. A look in my mirrors, and sure things, here come Blue and Red. I felt sorry for the poor biker angel behind me who, with her L plate, was in for a bad moment.

Well, not quite: for some reason the cop decided to pull over the car we had just overtaken. The driver must have been sooooooo pissed off. Life is so unfair!

Anyway, the short ride, the scraping in the takas, a gigantic friendly wave from a couple of sportbike riders, and the 5 minute chat on the side of the road with the biker angel in Featherston made my day :). Now I remember why I love motorbiking so much!

Great yarn. As well as a fabulous ride, which I'm very happy you had, Jiminy, I'm really, REALLY happy to read that men can be "between moods" because of a girl!! It's reassuring to know that it's not just us chicks who suffer mood swings because of the roller coaster of lurve ...

Nothing like the freedom of heading out with the plan of just you and the bike and see where the road leads! Never know who you'll meet on the way or have the opportunity to chat with, and the acknowledgement from other riders is always a nice addition to the journey. Good on ya.

Nothing that some porn can't fix.

Some days when you can loose yourself into the ride, losing track of time, there is nothing on the planet like it, well for me that is the case.

Amen...

For about 15 minutes, then you gotta get creative.

Maybe talk to the Mormon Few, they keep a stash of twink mags stuffed inside their XL textiles...

I used to try & stay off my bike when fighting with the ex, solved that problem, but no bike at the mo now either... (plays sad country song).

Sounds like a good trip.

It's not unlikely that the fella you overtook built up some aggro due to the yellow plate passing before his eyes and consequently increased his speed... ;)

Great post Jiminy - and a good reminder for us all to just spontaneously jump on the bike and go for a blat sun rain or fog! Cheers

A good ride cures more depression then any pills you can pop.
