Gidday all.
As we did last year, we will be organising riders to go to Australian MotoGP in October at Philip Island to race in the Aussie support classes.

At this stage the focus is on 125, but clearly there are 600 and Superbike classes if anyone is interested in taking their big bikes over.

Please see the attached flyer for some information. More detailed information can be obtained from me (Steve) or from Mel.

At this stage the costs cannot be nailed down as consignment, accommodation and car rental costs change per rider as the number of riders changes.

We have not yet decided on a cut off date, but will post that when we do.

Have a think about coming, it is a great time and well worth it, if only to go to the aftermatch party on Sunday night and drink piss and tell lies with a large proportion of the GP riders.

Thanks

Steve

You can't miss this opportunity guys. I'm already signed up, last year was a blast. Bit of a financial burden but you have to put things in perspective. Best track, MotoGP riders etc. Can't wait

myself and johnny are pencilled in but were a bit worried about the delivery time gettting our bikes back i cant afford to take 6 weeks off the bike, who would be keen to get there bikes air freighted back? how many extra $$$$ too

I think it works out at about $1k extra per bike (working on last years costs). But you have to remember that all bikes need to come back in one go so that would mean everyone having to pay the extra. I certainly wouldn't be keen on the idea. I think it took roughly 3 weeks last year to get them back.

From what I recall of the dates, it was 4 weeks give or take a few days from packing up in Melbourne to picking up in AKL via seafreight.
This is however subject to change by many different variables and could stretch out longer, hence the reason for air freight to OZ so that we are sure when the bikes will arrive.
Air freighting is approx 2.5 to 3 times the cost of seafreight, for obvious reasons, so would add about $1k perbike as Kirk suggests.

Have a good look at calendars to see if there is actually any or much tracktime around the end of October. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the VMCC meeting at Manfeild.

Cheers

Steve

Can you install air con!!!???

Only reason for not wanting to wait so long for the bikes to get back is that the nats are not to far around the corner and i want all the practice i need!

Hey guys and gals.
So far we have three 125's and 3 600's pencilled in.

All you guys and gals who might be thinking about coming over drop me a line so that I can keep you personally informed of progress.

Trip of a lifetime, unless you do it more than once, in which case you must be a flash harry/harriet and have two lifetimes!

Helpers are also welcome to tag along. You will need to organise yourselves flights and transport, but depending on numbers we can all doss together and serious helpers will be provided with heavily discounted MotoGP weekend passes that allow you into pitlane during support class races.

Does that sound like a bribe? Hope so.....

Cheers

Hi all.
An update to the proposed support class trip to the Aus MotoGP.
In their wisdom it seems that the organisers have substituted the 125GP support class with Australian Historic class running Forgotten Era post classic classes.

This being the case and the main reason for organising the thing being to take the 125 riders over, I have decided to cancel any further organising.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, we had just paid a deposit on a house in Cowes for the week of the GP.

It sleeps 10 so if anyone is interested in taking this booking from me, or wants to go just as a spectator group please let me know ASAP.

Some of us might still go as spectators, possibly, but if I do not have 10 confirmed and paid up people, or someone has taken over the booking, by the end on next week I will be cancelling the house booking.

Thanks OZGP organisers, well done. I hope those tractors don't shit all over your precious circuit and screw it up for the MotoGP classes.

If anyone wants to continue the organising for SBK, Supersports or Postie bikes then drop me a line and I can give you the info on how to go about it.

Aus SBK racing Sunday morning this time round.

We have managed to cancel the accommodation, so youse are all on your own now.

Sorry to those who wanted to go, but you can still organise yourselves if you wish.

Cheers
