View Full Version : Exhaust pipe for Mean Streak dilemma

Hi - I have a 2006 Kawasaki Mean Streak. Trouble is, where I come from, there are not many around and I am unable to 'hear' which is the best after market pipe to put on her. I'm not particularly interested in getting extra power from her, as she goes quite nicely as it is, but I am interested in making the 1600cc's of engine, sound like 1600cc's of engine!! I purchased the bike brand new from New Jersey and over there they have all sorts of noise and emission regs. So many in fact, that the bike (whilst sounding 'OK'), doesn't really do the bike justice. Can anyone steer me in the direction of which pipe would give me the gruntiest, most tasteful sound. I want to give her some testicles and let people know she's around!!

Cheers for your advice!

Pete.

Hey Wezzz - there you go:

Cobra exhausts are the way to go for metric cruisers IMHO. I used to ride a 1400 Intruder and had their drag pipes on it. They come with baffles. Once I removed them and my friend Patrick from Germany, who was riding a Harley at that time heard my bike and said "Zis is not a motacycle, zis is Das Boot!".

If you click on the link you'll see that they have quite a few pipes for it - 2-1 pipes have usually a mean sound. Or get those drag pipes, cut the bafflers in half and off you go. ;)

One thing to keep in mind is that you'll probably have to get a power commander or similar, to tune the engine to those pipes.

Cheers

Vance and Hines consistantly have recognizable and well loved tone in all their pipes for all models.

They generally come with removable baffles.

2 into one don't go for loud, but more a rumble
drags are brutal loud and depending on inch size you will get more "scream" or less
big radius pipes are a good half way from the two but you have to like the curve in them

if you want insane, get some drags that have a slight up and outward bend right at the end of the pipe.

For pipes try www.denniskirk.com - US prices so you need to convert and allow a extra US$90-100 for shipping. Heres the link to your bike - 9 pages of bling.
