Close enough, we'd need a better pic of the bike to tell the difference from where I'm sitting

Brushscript is a generic type font and not so good for signwriting. Not many of the windows fonts are very useful to reproduce in vinyl infact. This one is from a speedway sign font pack.

??? If it's a TTF there should be no problem. Overlaps on cursive fonts may not line up right....that's where the cleverer signies stand out after they weld and clean up.:girlfight:;)

No, its not the overlap, the weld function sorts that fine. Its the flaws in the font when its blown up large. The characters aren't well formed, smoothed off or line up too well and require a little tweaking to sort out. Sometimes they are thin where they should be fat, sometimes straight where a curve should have been. I becomes obvious when its blown up to a larger scale as in signage on a car, truck or building.
It catches the eye and distracts from your images overall effect. So I ditch them in favour of the Sign font packs instead.

I thought he was placing it on a screen, now I've seen where hes put it and what the rest of the few logos the Kwaka has look like, I'm making a him a better one with a couple of layers in it.

Aw i want with HornetBoy on now!

Would get people looking especially when it would be on a katana

So what would be the cost for something "similar" in size (ball park figures anyone ?) pm if you dont want to project to the world :girlfight:

slydesigns
12th May 2008, 15:03
honestly... about $5

And yes they would work with SignBlazer, they are just regular font files, only designed from scratch by Signwriters for signwriting

cheers, have to hit the drawing boards then, got a few ideas but id be more inclined to be putting it on my helmet or something i think.

Can you work with designs from Adobe Photoshop or Paint if i were to design something with dimensions and the like and send it to you ?

Depends...do you want them cut (like Cowboyz) or printed? Cutting won't give you 'feathered' edges or colour blends/fades.

Good to know, but I'll stick with what I've got. That's over 3000, split between Windows and SB...I think I have enough to trawl through under normal circumstances.

True, well im not too concerned with blends and fancey bits as its only to show who i am on KB .

But my bike does desperatly need new fairing vinlys as its bare at the moment and ive been thinking of getting this (see picture attached) cut somewhere but arent too sure of costs etc

I have spent the past 12 years convincing my wife size doesnt matter - dont you go fucking it up for me.

quoted the wrong post, said something about you could have done it.

And yes you could have. But you are forgetting how incredibly lazy (oops busy) I am and finding time to do other things is a mission. I actually didnt do anything apart from come home and find the stickers sitting on my window. Sweet.

ok ok. MSTRS is also a legend. I can see half of kiwibiker getting their decals replaced for nothing by the time this is over.

Hell yeah, post it up if you do!

Will have a look to see if they will suit what I like. I like subtly (even if I cant spell it).

Yea i personally am looking at the Grey/black version ,But now ive got to measure all the angles and thats going to be bloody complicated as its not on a straight/flat fairing ,its curved etc ...should be fun ;)

Wait till you see the colors of my new leather gear :2thumbsup: Bold would be an understatement

When you do something like this, it's a one off. As such, it is nigh impossible to cut the shapes/sizes in the flat. What you might find is that you will have to fit a larger piece of vinyl, then using masking tape to mark the finished shape, use a scalpel or craft-knife, cut along one edge of the masking tape and remove all vinyl outside the cut. Capische?

Ah yep yep ,get what your saying now.Had to read it a couple time but i see .So would i do that and give it to a sign writer and they would be able to fix me something up (that would be able to withstand weather etc)?

MSTRS

Print out the mock up pics you have and take them and your bike to a signwriter near you

slydesigns
13th May 2008, 18:08
Mine are in vinyl and I cleared them in same as I do on helmets. Paint the fairings, the have the painter apply some "interbase", its a clear that is designed to have a layer of paint adhere to it at a later stage. Useful when base coating, then vinyling, then airbrushing and top coat clearing a helmet etc.
Apply the vinyl to this layer, muck around cutting and repositioning, heating and shrinking it all until its how you want it, then let it sit for a day of two so see if you get any lifting. Fix the lifts [ 3M Primer 96 is brilliant for making vinyl adhere to low tack surfaces ] then once your happy, get it cleared over and your done.
If your local I can help you applicate it.
