Is it the age of the women he prefers?
is it the 16 months to sell his Holden?
Is it the chest size of his lovely lady?
Or could it be the number of PSI in his rear tyre when I checked the pressures for him?
I strongly suspect the bike handled a tadd better
Sorry bro but GOCHA
If ya get stuck doin the sh bearings gimme a yell

Why the fuck would I give a shit about my post count.
The man concerned knows what I'm on about
Actually Fuggit--you work in a suzie shop doncha--How much for a set of RF900 head bearings?

Are you desperate to get your post count up or something?
:msn-wink:
perhaps it was the kind of message that would subconciously make people go out and check their tyre pressues which would in turn make them safer on the road - i'm sure it'll work better than the way you ramble on with the bullshit overflowing from your mouth?
In fact, I am going to go and check my tyre pressures, specifically because i read the first post in this thread and it reminded me that I haven't checked them in a while.

No, I have my own motorcycle workshop. I'll find out for you tomorrow.

Heaven. Your own workshop. With tools. And space. And light.
:crybaby:
Kind of the opposite to what I have right now - no space (renovating), no tools (because some fuckwit stole them), and no light (no electrickery in the garage for the moment).
You're a lucky man KatMan. Your own workshop and a Katana screaming out for some subtle tweaks.

Thanks Frosty - thought you might have forgotten to carry out your threat to start this thread.....
Bike did handle much better after having the tyres actually inflated (air in tyres is for wusses).
Not going to be using the bike much this week (stupid train again) until the steering head bearings are done.
Katman, appreciate if you can get that price for the bearings. Apparently, according to Frosty, there is some benefit to having steering that actually moves smoothly.
Also, if you can price an oil filter up, that'd be most appreciated.
Thanks for the assistance Frosty. Got a mate who has offered to put them in (in my presence so I can see how these things work), but we'll yell out if we get stuck. Will probably be next Sunday at this stage (unless I can talk him into doing it one night during the week.
My test rider (who was meant to look out for things like this) has been beaten and will be subjected to watching Shortland Street all this coming week for his mistake.
Oh, and for the record, I like my women like I like my Scotch - 16years old and mixed up in coke.

Actually RF's don't handle that well with fuck all air pressure in the back tyre.
Particularly if it's happened in a hell of a hurry because of a big hole in the tyre.
SH bearings are about $90 from memory, and make a real difference.

This, I think was gradual, and simply from lack of use - the front was also low, but not as much.
Told my tester about the pressures (prior to the aforementioned beating) - he looked a bit sheepish to say the least.
I'll get some pics up when I can. This is the "bike previously known as Motel Bob's bike".

Yeah, I know the one now. Looks just like mine.
It gets pretty cold here in Upper Hutt in the winter :cold: and this quite often makes the tyre pressures drop a bit. However it seems to help the handling a bit, especially with the RF's torque wanting to spin the rear taking the on ramp onto River Rd on a cold morning.
Don't feel bad about Frosty catching you out. He's done it to me a number of times. You get used to it. I've lost count of the amount of times I've rung him for advice and have him remind me of something blindingly obvious that I'd forgotten and making me feel like a right muppet. It makes it more fun when you can get one over him.

Mully all kidding aside dude. Youre gonna need something pretty solid to hold yer bikes front end up when you do the bearings. The job should take you a couple of hours if you are feeling yer way
Hundy sounds about right to me for a set

Cheers Frosty,
My mate used to work for Colemans (many moons ago) so he is aware of the fact that RFs tend to weigh about 4 tonne.
Reckons he will jack up the front and strap it to his workbench before removing the head or something (wasn't really listening, had other things on my mind; poisoning the city's water supply and the like).
Probably look at doing the oil and filter at the same time.
Found a pretty trick alarm/immobiliser thing that works on RFID too, so pretty keen on something like that.

I could just ride it on the back wheel all the time..... Then I wont have to worry about it.
And then I can work on getting my knee down around 35km/h corners.
And loosen some bolts in preparation for your next trackday......

On the subject of tyre pressures, had this dude rock up to Wellington M/Cycles one Sunday morning while I was hangin around to see if anyone would turn up fpr a ride. Can't remember his name but he's done a couple of tests for KiwiRider and raced a fucken V-Strom of all things in the endurance race at Puke' a few years back.
Anyway, this dude had just bought a Ray Clee prepared K2 Gixxer thou', quick-shifter and all the shit, this thing was the bees knees and boy did he like to talk about it.
I'd been graced with the newly released XB9R for the weekend and as no one else had turned up, we went for a hoon up the 'Tukas, as yer do on a Sunday morning. Anyway, we get to the top and this dude's going on about how shit the GSXR handles and he should be able to roost a 1000cc aircooled tractor and there's something fundamentaly wrong with his Suer Dooper Suzuki.
Books it in Monday morning to have the suspension and wheel alignment all checked and so on and so forth, Hayden wheels it straight over to the airhose and ups the front tyre pressure from 9 to 30. Made quite a difference I'm told.

If you need a thread on Kiwibiker to remind you to check your tyre pressures you're a bigger dumbarse then I ever imagined you could be.
Says the guy who constantly reminds everyone about safety via thread after thread
The hypocrisy is strong with this one :bash:
