No, I have my own motorcycle workshop. I'll find out for you tomorrow.

Kind of the opposite to what I have right now - no space (renovating), no tools (because some fuckwit stole them), and no light (no electrickery in the garage for the moment).

Thanks Frosty - thought you might have forgotten to carry out your threat to start this thread.....

Bike did handle much better after having the tyres actually inflated (air in tyres is for wusses).

Not going to be using the bike much this week (stupid train again) until the steering head bearings are done.

Katman, appreciate if you can get that price for the bearings. Apparently, according to Frosty, there is some benefit to having steering that actually moves smoothly.

Also, if you can price an oil filter up, that'd be most appreciated.

Thanks for the assistance Frosty. Got a mate who has offered to put them in (in my presence so I can see how these things work), but we'll yell out if we get stuck. Will probably be next Sunday at this stage (unless I can talk him into doing it one night during the week.

My test rider (who was meant to look out for things like this) has been beaten and will be subjected to watching Shortland Street all this coming week for his mistake.

Oh, and for the record, I like my women like I like my Scotch - 16years old and mixed up in coke.

Actually RF's don't handle that well with fuck all air pressure in the back tyre.

Particularly if it's happened in a hell of a hurry because of a big hole in the tyre.

SH bearings are about $90 from memory, and make a real difference.

This, I think was gradual, and simply from lack of use - the front was also low, but not as much.

Told my tester about the pressures (prior to the aforementioned beating) - he looked a bit sheepish to say the least.

I'll get some pics up when I can. This is the "bike previously known as Motel Bob's bike".

Yeah, I know the one now. Looks just like mine.

It gets pretty cold here in Upper Hutt in the winter

and this quite often makes the tyre pressures drop a bit. However it seems to help the handling a bit, especially with the RF's torque wanting to spin the rear taking the on ramp onto River Rd on a cold morning.

Don't feel bad about Frosty catching you out. He's done it to me a number of times. You get used to it. I've lost count of the amount of times I've rung him for advice and have him remind me of something blindingly obvious that I'd forgotten and making me feel like a right muppet. It makes it more fun when you can get one over him.

Mully all kidding aside dude. Youre gonna need something pretty solid to hold yer bikes front end up when you do the bearings. The job should take you a couple of hours if you are feeling yer way

My mate used to work for Colemans (many moons ago) so he is aware of the fact that RFs tend to weigh about 4 tonne.

Reckons he will jack up the front and strap it to his workbench before removing the head or something (wasn't really listening, had other things on my mind; poisoning the city's water supply and the like).

Probably look at doing the oil and filter at the same time.

Found a pretty trick alarm/immobiliser thing that works on RFID too, so pretty keen on something like that.

I could just ride it on the back wheel all the time..... Then I wont have to worry about it.

And then I can work on getting my knee down around 35km/h corners.

And loosen some bolts in preparation for your next trackday......
