Hey all

I was replacing my rear indicators on Wednesday night (with help) when we noticed both filaments were lit on my brake/tail light. I'm not experienced with motorcycle electrical systems so have no idea what could be causing this, so would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks!

Almost certainly a stuck switch. More commonly the rear . Or an adjustment required.

Look at your rear brake pedal. Somewhere near to it will be a switch, usually with a wee spring going from the switch to the pedal. Push pedal, spring stretches, pulls switch on. Look around for a couple of wires near the pedal.

The switches are often in a shitty place and crap out. Pull the wires off the switch connector and see if the light goes out. If it does either your switch is fubar, or needs adjustment (various ways, usually obvious, commonly just a big nut).

If the rear looks OK (light stays on), check the front. There'll be a couple of wires going to the front brake lever. Disconnect, see if light goes out. If it does, front switch is fubar- usually not serviceable, replace.

If disconnecting both switches light stays on, you ahve a short or something weird.
