seriously though, there's a .06 cent price diff. over 20000kms, at about 17 kms/litre on a 600, that is only $70 more for a year's running on 95 over 91

Don't Suzuki recommend 95 for the 'Busa?

marty

Yep, I reckon I'd have a bugger of a job tuning the sem fiddy to run on Jet A-1

my tank is empty at the moment - it's been running around 15km/l on 91 so i'll fill it with 95 and see what i get.

most bikes should run on 91 without any probs.as long as the bike has'nt got a super high compresion ratio it should'nt ping and carry on.i know of a few people who run 91 in late model sport bikes.

An FJR1300 runs on 91 octane. Its next fill will cost NZ$1.20 a litre.

So when you fill up on 91 you will save about $1.20, what a huge difference.

Fair enough... they will run on it, BUT, I'm of the opinion if a manufacturer recommends 95, it's probably best to use it

Get an NZ new Ducati Monster 600. They run on 91 and are not a sportsbike.

And stop shouting.

Haven't used the bike for a while??

No. Its next fill will be in Los Angeles California.

No it's not. The manual for my SV1000 says... "Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher (Research method)"

It is saying you can run on 91, but it is not recommending 91.

91 or higher.

So you will be using their 'super'? Don't they have 87/91/95(premium)?

America goes by a different rating.

Their 87/91/95 would be the same as 91/95/100 for us.

i have run pretty much 50,000kms on 91 on my gsxr600 with out issues, any issues

i have run all 5 of gas stations, 91/ and 95+ mixs, and found all much of a muchness.

I did acutally get a bit of a pinging when i rand bp 98 & was at track.
---------

Manual says run 91 and above,
been told to run as high as octane as possible (when queries what type of gas to run), but told 91 not gonna do any harm.

Meh.
I can remember when fuel was 40 cents a gallon....
It was around the time I got my first bike.

The C50T runs good on 91.

Fuel was less the $1 a gallon when I bought my first bike (late 70's).

I thought that was bloody expensive then too.

1c was legal tender and all service stations did just that, give service!

The forecourt attendants pumped the fuel.

Friday nights saw us all riding into a station where a mate would be working and all line up for 1c worth of petrol, used to piss off the Boss though.

No minimum delivery was good like that.
