View Full Version : Bastards have knicked all our bikes

A&R
4th June 2008, 19:24
The bikes were ridden on sunday at the two man GNCC series.
I beleive they were stolen during the day as they can't get in the garage at night as the cars are in front of it.
I'm pretty sure it was done in daylight today as I'm sure the bikes were in their this morning and my wife was home all day tuesday.
Can't beleive it got home from work at 1800 today ( Wednesday) and opened up the garage door to find all our bikes gone:gob:
They are: CRF250x with a a trailtech vapour computer mounted on the front - usual red, white black graphics. Note the side right hand panel has been screwed onto the rear mud guard ( 4 screws can se it on the 4th pic)
CRF230 f with red rental aftermarket bars - the front white no. panel went missing on the last ride so isn't there. unlike in these pics below
CRF100 with black aftermarket bars otherwise pretty standard
CRF70 with missing choke lever ( broken off) on carb few graphics on rear mud guard. also missing chain adjuster on one side.
old 1996 yellow RM80 with gold renthal bars blue grips and lots of suzuki graphics

The kids are all gutted.:crybaby:

I've got the burglary squad coming round to do finger prints etc. tomorrow
but reckon thats about $20,000 worth of gear and bikes knicked. anybody got any and I mean any info ring me on 0272 912 427

Whoever took this lot had a big trailer or a truck. it must have taken them about 20mins just to load it up.
they left the little zr50 in the middle of the garage. \i reckon they couldn't get it in. All my toolkit and other gear including a full set of plastics for the 250 has been left behind.

I'll put up the vin and frame numbers soon

They either followed you home or had seen them outside when cleaning etc.

I do hope that you rang the local plod CIB and put those conversations on record, naming names? When they do go (and they will) they might be able to intercept them before he gets rid of them. That'll be your only chance of getting them back.

Hinny
4th June 2008, 23:40
Having been a victim I can empathise with the feelings you must have.
How to get over those feelings is something I have been unable to do. We are totally indoctrinated into that revenge mentality and become consumed with desire to find those responsible and do very bad things to them. Problem is: how do you find them? That feeling of helplessness is so hard to overcome. I guess I should have paid the dough and got insurance and then I would have possibly gained some level of satisfaction, compensation, recompense by getting replacements. New is good.
When you don't get that opportunity...it sucks.
I feel for you Brother.

Bike thieves really are the scum of the earth. I hope you get your bikes back soon.

That is absolutely disgraceful. I was going to say "unbelievable" but unfortunately my opinion of Auckland (south Auckland in particular) means that that would not be the right word to use at all. Really feel for you and the kids; and while hopes of recovery might be slim I too will be hoping for your sake that the low life pricks get caught and your gear returned intact.

I am very sorry to hear this mate, it is a very sad reflection on our society when you feel you have to live in a fortress to prevent some arsehole stealing your stuff!

Man this is just happening too much, and there is quite a few that have reported it happening just in this dirt section of Kiwi Biker and with our small amount of contributers I can imagine that the problem is very very wide spread. I hear of other instances of this happening all too frequently. Everyone be careful and make it as difficult as possible for these scum. Unfortunetley I don't believe this of any real concern to the constabulary!

Sounds like it is time to install security cameras everywhere! This is way beyond it.

You and your family have my sympathy, mate!

Yeah, I think that just about everyone on here has had some sort of experience with bike theft. This is an epidemic and for the life of me I can't figure where all these bikes are going.
Having had a bike knicked recently we know how it feels. We have identified the signs of a theft about to occur. In fact we know that the pricks that hit us last time are back and snooping around waiting for the bike to be replaced and back into its container. Creatures of habbit, but the trap is being laid.

We record all number plates now and match every name to them (yes it costs). We even collect number plates from the beach, purely for our own records so that when the next attempt occurs we have some evidence for the cops, because they sure as hell won't do fuck all to help.

Andy, please send some identifiable pics through to our email and we will display them at the sign on office. If we can help in any way let us know.

Big warning to all. Check who follows you home!!

Just curious, were there no signs of forced entry? How did they get into the garage? Surely you can pinpoint when they were taken or was the garage not locked?

Security can be a pain but its worth doing. I check for cars following as I near home, the front gate is always locked (I unlock it only when expecting someone) the garage is always locked if I'm not out there, its alarmed, and there is also an alarm that goes off when someone comes up the drive. You can't be too careful. I do have bike locks too but I'm going to invest in some new ones and use them more often.

The phone often rings only to have the caller hang up. I believe its the thieving scum. Fortunatly I'm here most of the time and have good neighbours.

I have a customer now a friend who is in the security business. He alarmed my garage and work shop with both motion and trip sensors. He also set me up with the driveway alarm. You might see his Optimum Security Hilux truck at some rides.

Call Paul from Optimum Security Systems and support his riding habit.
Phone 09 828 0608 or 021 482 664. Tell him Greg sent you.

Hope they were insured mate.
It must have been someone that knew they were all in there and knew you were away.

Bummer Andy!!!
The thieves love Howick. Its close to their patch, we've got stuff they don't and the Asians keep lots of cash around. I'd hate for the Z1R to get stolen so am a bit paranoid about burglars. You can't go down the local bike shop and get another of those. Always keep mine chained together, its a pain when you want to get them out or work on them but trying not to make it easy for the scum.
Would they be covered under house and contents seeing as how they where at home and they are not road registered?? You must have been followed home unless some local asshole has your number!

Bummer mate I feel for ya!

we had shit heads checking things out here at Gulf Harbour for the last couple of weeks.

They were driving 4x4 trucks. I saw them out at sandpit last time I was there (last week). they drove in with no bikes, had a siggy, I was having a break from riding. when i came back 20min later, they were gone.

I saw them driving past my house 4 times the next day.... And its here at Gulf Harbour!!!!!

I personally think investing $200 for a titanium bike chain, sold at bike shops, is a great idea. I'm getting one of them and will actually try to "break in"... Will use my grinder to try to cut up the chains... I'm sure they will be stronger that shit they sell at bunnings per meter, but just how strong????

If we can all keep an eye on cars and license plates, and share them here, we might reduce and maybe catch these scam-bags!!!

just a thought but to find where you live they would need your rego details to find your address you may be able to check with the LTSA as to who has been lookin up your rego details as i know with motor check we use here at work im sure they know what you have been looking at for the billing side of things. If these guts have access to this themselves it could well lead to them. The other side of it is thay may have some one in the post office who is doing it for them which for all these bikes that are going could still give a lead. If they are connected in any way?

Thats the reason why i never register my cars to my actual home address,
i always use the business address, been doing that for 8 years now, the only way they can find me is to follow me home!

Barty5 great point of course about these w*nkers using your rego to find home addresses, but what an invasion of privacy that is.

Great idea Tevea about not using your home address for your vehicle rego details. I guess not everyone has the option of using a different address.

For vehicle rego's LTSA have a record of both your physical and postal address, so are both addresses available if someone other than LTSA was looking them up?? If so using a p o box for your postal address wouldn't help. Does anyone know?

I can't believe how rampant bike theft is up there, sorry to hear about your loss A&R :( Were the bikes insured?

Yep feel for you man............agree with everyone else's comments. Seems to be happening more and more with dirt bikes. For them to be taken by some low life there is also another low life out there willing to buy them.

What about we set up a thread that gets pinned to the top of the threads that we can post details of stolen bikes, Photos, frame numbers etc. If we could keep each post to just the details of the bikes everyone could quickly see what has been stolen and keep a look out.

May need some help from the Moderators to set it up.

For it to work well, just the details of the bikes for each post and keep all the comments to another post.

What do you think?

House insurance ( contents) will cover them IF you have them as named items else see star insurance.
I've been lucky or have a sympathetic insurer - they will cover each item up to $2500 - doesnt cover the bigger bikes obviously but just about covers the smaller ones. Its better than nothing. They would have covered them if I had them as specfied items.

If/when we get some more bikes I will insure them with star insurance. I think they sponsor the sandpit. You can get a quote and pay on line. At least they will give an agreed value for each bike and are specialist at ensuring bikes. Its not cheap about $330.00 per bike. Contents isn't much cheaper because they load the premiuim once you put the bikes on it. Being in the situation now i would have rather of obtained specialist insurance
Note the excess is $2000.00 though on each bike!

If/when we get some more bikes I will insure them with star insurance. I think they sponsor the sandpit. You can get a quote and pay on line. Oh and it only costs about $150ish oper bike to micro dot it.

Check out changing everythign to AMI A&R. They will insure a bike for $70 each, but you have to have house, contents and car with them. Worth a try anyway.
