I am but I'm going to go the coast road and come back the inland route. Wanna spend some time riding with Oldrider. I think most are going the inland route. There's some talk about a meet up at 1.30 at Moraki township. Never knew it had one.

In the abscence of a meeting place for anyone intersted I'm going to fill up at Rolleston. I'm open to suggestions for a departure time if interested.

I was going to leave tonight, but I've decided to can that. Instead I'll be leaving in the morning. I'm leaving early and probably go down the coast (got some sight seeing I want to do!). Any takers for meeting at the Rolly petrol station at 6am? There is almost no traffic on the roads at that time.

Dave-
12th December 2008, 16:35
argh, Im heading down tomorrow now, went to take off, achey, smelly and gritty eyed, gave the bike a look over, checked the oil and it's on the low (rode home so bike was warm), chain could do with a tighten too, so I'm gonna have some dinner, a nanna nap, head over to my olds, take care of the bike, then sleep for as long as possible and hook up with some folk tomorrow. and the fact I cant be fucked paragraphing makes it all the more obvious.

12th December 2008, 16:45
Is this a sealed road into the camp? Just had a look on the map. Looks unsealed. Anyone know??

6am:Pokey: are you nuts?! That would be like a work day!

Keen to join up with you Skyrider, might even have Dave if that time suits him. As far as roads go I think it's sealed from the north, if not I'll just be even more of a nana.

Haven't heard back from Retro' so maybe she managed to shoot through today?

Time to finish off this packing, still got half a bloody sticker on my light from the Magpie!

Safe travels all, looking forward to meeting a bunch more people:2thumbsup

that was great!

thanks to everyone who organised, thanks to stevewederell and ghost for the grub (and the others who also sported sausages etc)

I trust everyone got home alright, the ride through to waimate was awesome, and I was utterly destroyed by ashburton, stopped at the domain had a slash, an apple and a nap under the trees....poor ashburtoners must've had a fit!

my photos aren't too bad, there's just a couple I'd like to share

the swimming lamb, the grub and the line up outside hut 7 (aptly named the single young mens hut)

what goes on tour stays on tour?

edit: the shitty fuckin vBulletin photo upload is shit and wasted 5 minutes uploading only to inform me it'd failed...and now the img tags aren't working....

Awesome weekend and company, I had a great time. Great to meet some more faces, and good on the Northerners (Doc and Goblin) for making the trip down, well done guys. Thanks XKnuts for organising the camp, the ride and the meal. Thanks to the camp owners for so accommodating for us.

I've got LOTS of photo's to sort through, but can't be "arsed" doing it tonight so I'll get some up tomorrow night. I've had a quick look through them and there's some interesting moments captured :shifty:

" You do hang out with some unusual people Dad!"Yep I'll say you do - the owner of this was very interesting to observe last night, in fact you could say we saw a whole new "side" of them. No names, you work it out, those that were there know all about it ... more pics tomorrow night.

Found out a few things I didn't know like Shrek has more than 1 wife! some of the campers told me who she was then found out he had a whole hareem thing going on :jerry: :corn:

D reckons that Shrek has a lovely smooth neck  the mind boggles.

Thanks Mr Sensible for babysitting the bottle of port all the way home  (he was in the cage with D so was probably using it for protection!)

Had a great ride home via the haka and mackenzie passes to find kids had beaten us home and I still had another 2 1/2hrs driving to get son to work....

Another of those weekends that will stay long in the memory, will be remembered, will be revisited at future events, was a class one event because of the class one people who attended,
From young Dave_ to John- OldRider, nowhere was found a dissapointed face.
Smiles, grins, woo whoos Yehaas was the order of the day, from the misty dampness of the dawn, to the dark quiet of the pre dawn, each of the days was full of enjoyment, fun, laughter, boasting, teasing, good food, boobies, plenty of piss, lotsofgood food, belly dancers, pizza pie makes, bacon & eggs, bikes, babes, bullshit,.....................and not a wanker to be found.
A camp mother who.....Excuseme!.......was just having a ball!
Some very well behaved riding on the Saturdays tootle around some nice tight hills, along the awsome beach coastal road .
Pity we didnt meet the Poker Run boys on the road, but then, saved them from being embarresd eh.
The quick paced run back to camp from the watering hole just a fluid line of machines in tune with their riders.
Now onto the antics of saturday night!

The whole weekend was fabrisco, getting there late on Friday night, with everyone totally pissed, gave me a heap of catching up to do, but glady didn't get too leathered, save all that for the Saturday night.

Mr. Sensible thank for being my knight and riding my steed safely back home, there was no way I was letting you sit at camp all day by your lonesome...

Had an enourmous amount to drink on Saturday, had a recount, and its 12 speights, 3 shots, 2 glasses of red vino, thats what must have happened when I tripped over the woodedn seat and ended up looking up at the sky......youch no wonder it felt like the axe murderer visited my tent and lodged his axe in my head.:bash: Someone must have broken into the tent and thrown everything around to create a sight like Beruit after a severe bombing.

God I hate the packing away with a hangover.

And one more mention to Dangerous.......H and I are putting you in a straight jacket next time........what a laugh though, thanks dude for giving us a laugh almost to the extent of not being able to breath properly...:killingme:laugh:

Waht it made it for me though, is all you guys, old acquantancies, and new folk all go to rock my world.,.......:niceone: dudes and dudess's.

Fantastic time, well done to all who put the hard work in.

Oh and did I mention I was organising a rally:rolleyes:

Hugs and again Merry Christmas one and all......woodybee x

Brilliant weekend. All to short, probably good thing given I was still feeling a little weary today. Sure I closed my eyes several times for a power nap at work :shit:

Great to catch with you all.

Big thanks to xknuts for the work he put in to the weekend plus lunch at Moeraki. Also to woodybee for the ride on her Triumph - great week bike for the back roads. Really enjoyed it. Also to Dangerous for the ride back to Chch. :Punk:

Bring on the next one.

Well the fact that I have got another huge fibreglass and respray bill to save up for is probably why I won't be going beyond the end of the tarseal again.

Lost the front wheel at 10kph going through roadworks. I don't like gravel at all.

OHHHhhhhhhhhhh... shit man, see quote below.

Them tiny little sprotsbike tyre will do that to ya...
ahhhh rot... too much front brake, not powering through, lack of rear brake and incorrect leaning will do it.

Treat shingle compleatly different to the seal and its a piece a piss, be timed of it and the inevatable will happen.

Them tiny little sprotsbike tyre will do that to ya...

Actually a mix of wider fat tyres, shorter clip on handle bars also

The wider fat rear tyre means there is more gravel under the tyre (simple maths) and makes the tyre and whole rear end move more... by itself this usually isn't a problem but, add in the shorter clip bars and you have a mix

The rear stats to move which in turn starts to move the front end and with wider bars you would have more control over it. But with short clip ons you have less so makes it harder...

Look at all trail and adventure bikes, thinner tyers and wider bars...

Was awesome to catch up with ewes all and meet some fresh meat.:grouphug:

Had a blast at the rally, the ride was chilly but the company warm. I had the best view of the young fella fall off his chook chaser  gave him a toot ana :niceone:.

No trip south is complete without a night at the Wilderness Backpackers at Haast, then up the wet coast to Pukekura. Bit of gold digging in the rain at Ross and a night at the Blackball Hilton. Next day was up to Motueka and over Takaka Hill for some salmon out of a pond. Four fish in 5 mins!! Too easy! Too yummy....

On the way to Picton I noticed wire on docs rear tyre. We had a slow ride to the ferry but made it just in time. Was supposed to be a "Moderate" crossing but I came so close to losing my dinner.

Night at Welly downtown backpacers and off to Welly motorcycles in the morning for a new tyre. Crasher talked me into taking a Hog for a spin...:shifty: there may even be a pic.

Back to reality and looking forward to the next trip.

So how was the fishing?

:o Didn't even take my gear out of it's case

Way to much in the way of trees along the accessible part of the river by the camp for me (It's been 6 seasons since I'd cast a fly so I would have spent more time hooked up to the fauna on the back casts than having the fly in the water), the river is full of didymo too so wasn't keen to start wading around or help spread the delightful snot elsewhere.

Arriving there a lot later than I'd planned on the Friday I only got a quick nosey at the river before other things took over :drinknsin and Saturday was for :ride:
The amount of foot traffic around the camp would make any of the resident fish pretty spooky too.

Saturday night Doc & Goblin went for the gamble and attempted a bit of long-lining for eels , that got a bit of activity out of the swimming hole getting a few of the locals attention & drawing a couple of big silver bellys out of the depths later in the night and one reasonable size brown came in close to check what was happening.

On Sunday I spoke to Scott about the fishing, and the trout around the camp are pretty sparse but was informed of where a couple of good spots are and that he'd willingly take me around the area to give these places a good going over if I ventured back down there some time during the rest of the season. :niceone:

The pic is of one of the larger eels heading back into the depths with some bait

The final chapter of the KB rally was closed yesturday in a mission to extracate the Ducati of Mr Sensibles from the Dansy's Camp.
The weather was shite from the moment of leaving home, right through to arriving home some 12hrs later.

What a mavalous place though it is down there. And looking accross the camp site one could re-live the happenings of the weekend prior.
From the arrival and Friday night table tennis, the fabulous discovery of some wonderful little roads on the Saturday, a grand nibble of some food at Moaraki, to the totaly brilliant time sitting around the fire pit till the early hours. The food cooked on the bbq was a great addition to the copious amounts of fluids consummed by many.
And if with the lack of sleep after getting to bed way to late in the morning, the ride home was good.
With all of that on top of a busy week of work, it took much of the week to feel like I had even semi recovered.

Back to the task at hand of getting this duck back in flight. Mr Sensible had found some perfect "Fag" bearings for the job on his back wheel... some special bearing grease helped those "faggy" things into place. The old worn bearing was infact well beyound worn... Mr Sensible was a little confused by my desire to capture the moment on film... but of course it was me, and that is what I do... "Capture".

Mr S braved the cold and wet weather that was not much more than around 7degrees and as low as 4. We swapped tasks of riding at Ashburton, as the old man looked as though he was going to shrink into oblivion with shivering.
And I was rather suprised with my first ride of such a machine, very similer but very different to the Griso. It was rather easy to ride...felt slow when going fast, turned easy but a pain on the wrists in town and with out getting into to much more detail I would rate it as a 7 out of 10. The griso of course being a conservative 12 out of 10.

The pics below are self explaining...

Then if not
1.The Raikia River full of water
2.The wheel before the bearing was removed
3.The bearing is well and truley fagg'd
4.Not much left of the sphere

Have to agree with D here. That first photo captures the site pretty well.

I wouldn't like to see any one person featuring - either everybody or nobody, after all it was group event.

I have to agree with you on that Mr Sensible :slap:

as much as i like the pic "coz I make it look good"

so I rang RedKLR (Stu) & asked if he would go over & take a few pic's of the Park at different angles & some with his &or Johns bike

He (Stu) suggest's that a group meet there one weekend for lunch would be a nice day ride

I am keen for a pole, but not quie sure how it is going to relate to the gathering. There was not even a pole in the belly dancing room.... mmmm. There must be a way around this issue.

#1 and #3 are where we went for the day ride!

#2 is in between them but we didn't actually go there.

Some people went to Dansey Pass hotel in their car.

Their reason was valid, so we still love them. :wari: Cheers, John.

What orientation are you looking for in a pic? The previous badges are portraits so I presume you want the same this time around? Most of the pics suggested are in landscape. I'm just having a look through what I've got.
