View Full Version : I flipped the ER... ouch...
Aaah crap... on my way home this evening... just after northcote on the Northern...
A car changed lanes a bit too close to me and I emergency braked... mmm well climbed onto the picks a little too hard and lifted the back wheel up and it didn't stop...
Flipped head over heals with the bike coming down kinda on me... well to the side not exactly sure...
mmm damage to me... well sore knees, and hip... nothing serious there... sore right rist and elbow... bike... well not too bad actually... mirrors x2, intrument pannel, levers and gear selector bent... and handle bars are bent I think... didn't see any fluids leaking which is a good sign...
anyway haul myself off to A&E... suspected broken/fractured right elbow, can't see much on the x-ray... will have to wait for the swelling to go down a bit...
ah crap...

Doh!
Hope it all is fixed up real soon.
Perhaps this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1597277&postcount=1) device would permit full 360 forward flips?

Hope you're ok. Bike sounds like it's fixable. I've been up on the front wheel a few times because of stupid drivers.

Far kin 'ell! Over the handlebars at motorway speeds isn't good for your health.
Why did the car change lanes into you?
Did the car hit you?
Did the car notice you'd gone over the bars?
Did the car stop?
Did anyone get it on video?

Actually, if you were considering repeating the performance at 10-second intervals for half an hour, they'd help immensely - braided lines help brakes not to fade as the fluid heats up.
Bummer about the crash, though - I've done about the same thing myself (on an FXR150, which also apparently didn't need braided lines).
I take it you had nowhere to swerve to...? Maybe the thing to take away from this one is, always look to steer into a gap rather than try to stop in a straight line, whenever possible.
thanks mate... yeah think i did a proper job this time :)

Damn! Sorry to hear that sir.
Watched a guy do a lane into space occupied by a concrete truck today.
If they can't see a bloody concrete truck how do you expect them to see a bike.

If insurance pays out and decides it's written off, perhaps a faired brother of your fallen sibling is in order? *ahemcometothedarksideahem* ;)
I'm amazed actually, I had an assclinching moment on the motorway and the front brakes just jumped, hurled and spat at me, you must have fists the power of zeus to lock them up! I've migrated to EBC HH sintered pads now hehe.

Oh, that was my point though. But it's still a good sign not hurting too badly the day after! I found that the 2nd day after my crash was the worst when I had my first spill - was stiff and sore, feeling like shit!

My accident 2 weeks ago I had no where to go. A guy coming he other direction didn't see me (White Blue Suzuki with the lights on at 8 in the morning) cut across to get into a drive way. - No where to go as there where cars behind him still coming in my direction and I the other option is to jump the kerb into a power poll.
You don't have much time to choose which way to go, I still wonder if I should have gone another direction.
I hope you are part Wolverine and heal quickly.
