was at a local shop and buying a small part 4 one of the bikes , and just buy chance i said it should be coverd by warranty (all $15 ) ove it. To find that Kawasaki dosen't tranfer the 2 year unlimited millage warranty to the second owner. They told me that they would only if i was the first owner but beeing the 2nd they didnt want to know. thought this was a bit wrong even though the bike has less than 1000 km on it and 6 months old , thought this was shit :angry2:, I would have thoutght that they warranty the bike not the owner.
I would be intrested in what the other company pollicy may be, as yamaha im sure warrintys the bike not the owner.

Just another manufacturer trying to worm there way out of paying.

Ask to see the documentation on which they base there opinion

yep, the kawasaki warrenty follows the owner not the bike. i thought you could transfer the ownership of the warrenty over by supply new owner details etc to kawasaki?

kawasaki is the only manufacturer i have heard of that does this.

I dont know if they can do that or not, but Hyosung honours its warranty for second owners. I just had a faulty tyre replaced. We are the second owner, 6 months old, 1400kms.

The Consumer Garentees Act is your friend in a case like this. It is available online and (for law) pretty easy reading. It is amazing how few shops or companies actually know their obligations.
The Disputes Tribuanl would not consider a 6 month old. 1000km bike being considered outside the expected lifetime (unless it is Chinese....).

Surely, consumer guarantee act doesn't cover private sales.

Its a different story if you bought it from a dealer.

And I don't know of a law that requires the manufacturer to transfer the warranty to new owners.
