I feel your pain. Although the fogging isn't as bad in my HJC as it is in my Shoei. I think this is a function of the HJC having a bigger shell (more space in the front) and fog-resistant coating on the inside of its visor. On really cold mornings though, it's hard to stop my glasses fogging when stopped.

Ask a diver, spit on glasses before you set off, works a treat.

What sort of heavy breathing are you chaps doing on your bikes and in your skidlids and why???
I only ever had problems if it was really cold or I was working hard thrashing the cbr. If the visor was down and I was hardly moving thats when the visor would fog up but never my glasses. Best thing to do is get a lid thats comfy to wear and holds your glasses sung. But the most important is get a lid with great working vents and allways keep them open. I had a 06 Shoei XR1000 and it was the best and probably the most lightweight Ive ever had. Hardly ever flogged and if it did, just down by my nose. Also had a cheap shitty HJC and that was OK, but not as good.
The above post is correct too. I allways lick my lenses and clean with my t-shirt and Ive been given other products, but they was no better.

The best thing I've found so far is to rub a small amount of dish washing liquid onto the lenses of my glasses and buff off. Lasts a few days, and easy (and cheap) enough.

Make sure you have the lemon scented stuff though.

HJC have an accessory thingie called a Breath Box, which worked good for me. It totally seals the face part from any breath from your nose or mouth.

Have found that to be the best solution to the heavy fog/morning missed problem, and always use contacts on the Rusty Nuts GC for that reason. Bets the misting up of the outside of ya visor too. Just pop the visor up and let the contacts take the mist. Have past other riders in the mist that way:niceone:

With my glasses I use the same Rainex Anti-fog (ya can get from ya Service Station when ya fuel) on them as I use on the inside of my visor.

I used to wear glasses inside my CS-12 HJC (and Shoei I think)... until I went back to wearing contacts. Why the hell i didn't do that 6 months earlier I don't know.

Not a solution of course, if you can't wear contacts :)

I can't wear my glasses inside my helmet for several reasons, but thankfully, I have contact lenses....

I have the same problem in my Shoei. I'd be interested to know how to stop the glasses from fogging up. I can wear contact also but sometimes my eyes are too sore to wear them.

These things are designed for people who don't wear glasses. Anything that has to fit around one's nose competes for fitment space with spectacles.

I got a progrip no fog inner for my visor of my hjc cl14 and that helps somewhat. When its super cold and foggy I get a bit of fog on the outside of my visor but it clears quick.

Never had a problem with the HJC (carbon shell) but the new Shoei XR1000 fogs untill it warms up. So I ride with visor up a click until I hit the open road.

I got a Oxford Huff in my helmet which helps though it was meant to be use on riders that werent wearing glasses. Problem is you have to keep adjusting the Huff till it does not fog your glasses...plus the Huff keeps ya nose and mouth warm

My HJC has a breathmask in it, sits over your nose. Think fighter pilot. No fogging up for me :)

do you mean sunglasses or vision glasses? if sun i'd just get a tinted visor!

Both. I don't like tinted visors because I also ride in twilight and in the dark and can't be fannied carrying a second visor around.

I also think that eye protection is important, and even if I had 20:20 vision or wore contact lenses, I would still wear glasses of some sort to protect my eyes from airborne particulate matter encountered while riding with the visor raised.

But back on topic, this thread is about glasses (of whatever type) fogging up. Discussions like these get a bit irksome at times when people who don't wear glasses come up with all sorts of odd ideas in terms of how to remedy this issue, such as suggesting a variety of accoutrements that fit over one's nose.

I too have a Shoei and wear glasses. Ive always had trouble with my helmet fogging. or my glasses it's really had to tell sometimes (with out pulling over and checking.
There is a guy at my work with a helmet that has a built in nose gard. He wants to cut it off because it fogs his glasses. He has to push it down and tilt his helmet to stop it from happening.
I have a Rev'it Neck warmer thingy. It is ment to go over my nose but it fogs my glasses instantly so I just have it sitting below my nose. It does a really good job even like that. and untill it slips out the kneck of my jacket it is amazing how much warmer I am. It really stops the breeze getting into my jacket. It also reduces wind noise alot. I have found I basicly just have to ride with my helmet on click open or else I fog no matter what. I bought some "Catcrap" which you rub on your visor then buff off. I'm not impressed enough to recoment it though. It is however cheap (less then $10)
I cleaned my visor the other day before a big ride and it started to fog up real bad (first time I cleaned the inside since using the "Catcrap" so maybe it was really doing something?
I bought a decal thing to use but am too scared to put it on in case I mess it up lol.
I've only been riding 6 months but do ride every day so in my experiance as a person with glasses:
Those nose gards are no good for glasses because they direct the air straight up under the lense and you fog instantly.
same goes for a neck warmer if it covers the nose. mine is so noticable I can feel the air passing over my eyes and my glasses fog without even having the helmet on.
Shoei's seem to fog alot. even with vents open. But breathing threw my nose seems alot better then threw my mouth for fog. Keeping the low vent open seems to help when breathing threw my nose. And doesn't add to wind noise.
I am in wellington, and the cold doesn't help with fog factor

I wear glasses and have a Shoei (Multitec) and hav only had fogging problems usually at low speed specially around town to rememde this just open visor a tad,the only other thing is with clip-on sunnie attachment for glasses can make dark tarmac look as it has rained at times.

Yeah I should point out my fog issues are also during slow riding. Anything below 40-50 and I have trouble.
Mine is a Shoei xr1000
The clipon's making the road darker or purple and glossy is polarised reactiing with the visor. it's the same threw car galss. Can be quite distracting sometimes.

I too have a Shoei Multitech and glasses - I've tried a few compounds on the visor and glasses without much success. Unfortunately the only option that works for me is to have the visor slighly open - not so bad on foggy days but damn cold only the motorway on a frosty morning. The other lesson I've learnt is to open the visor before you sneeze otherwise "white out" ;-)

Yep spit on the inside of your glasses....

No No No not a Great Honking Green Bogey Filled Hoik.:nono::nono::nono:

Just a light spray of saliva then wipe around with your finger.

Or if your too polite and refined for that ask ya mate to spit on them for ya.:msn-wink:

Just kidding!

Pledge also works good as does a small drop of dishwashing liquid.

Smear it around and let it dry off before you start.

But if it's really pissing ya off maybe invest in some contact lenses for riding.

I have a prob with the visor fogging but not the glasses. Shoei Raid II. Fogs despite "antifog" visor and open vents, more so when cold. I solve prob by leaving the visor a tad open - cold but clear vision.

After years of trying all sorts I also just leave my visor open a notch. Can be a bit chilly but I'd rather have that then fogging.Current helmet is a shark but it was the same with shoei and el cheapos before that.

Seriously try the spit method you'll be pleasently surprised.

Absolutely the dishwashing liquid really does work, and my Shoei has a pinlock anti-fog lens that works like a double-glazing - it is awesome, glasses or not... the inside of the helmet is fogged around the edge and totally clear in the centre.

I have a Shoei XR1000 and I recently bought a "breath guard" and it's working really well. I have to be stationary and it has to be raining and bloody cold for it to start fogging up bad. If it doesn't clear up fast enough I use the notch on the side of the visor to crack it open and it clears in no time.

I'm a newby rider, wear glasses and have a HJC helmet also.

I have had issues with fogging more of my glasses than the visor, but if i leave it long enough the visor will fog aswell. Somtimes they both just fog at the same time, so far the only solution i have had is to crack the bottom of the visor open a couple of mm.

I play paintball and have the same problem there with glasses fogging inside the mask, I use an anti-fog from the paintball shop with some success on the mask but the glasses still fog with the same application!! I have also used another anti-fog called Cat-crap (which was designed for visors) which seemed to work alot better however sourceing it can be an issue.

My newest problem is fog and rain on the visor, it doesn't seem to run off like I thought it would and I don't ride at great speeds (70-90km/h) most of the time. I bought some Rain-X but on a label it said not to use on plastics unless stated by the manufacturer, does anyone else use Rain-X on their visor, if so any problems?? does it work??

I use Rain-X on my visor, it works really wel but only for about 2 days. I usually end up with so much dirt on my visor from riding in the rain that I have to clean it after every 2nd or 3rd ride. Someone one told me that if you re-apply Rain-X after EVERY visor clean the Rain-X builds up and works better, dunno if it's true.

But it works for me (bloody well too) even if it is short lived, I find I have to leave it on the visor longer before buffing than I do on my car's windscreen.

I use an anti-fogging cloth, (available from my local Yamaha dealer), just breathe on the visor/glasses and wipe. Seems to be good for about a week.
It's only about 6" square, so fits in jacket pocket, folded in a zip-up bag.
Cost me about $6 from memory.
