Without reviving Scumdog's thread 'Crash' I thought it a good idea for recent KB joinees :cool2: & all bulletproof :killingme hardcases to take a look at an aftermath. It's real sobering stuff. Most of us don't think about it, nor do we really have any idea of the realities of motorcycling (or knitting). If this saves a life it is worth it>

All I can say is that it wouldn't have hurt and it would have been easy to pick up the guy as most of his bits look like they weighed less than 20kg!
Ironicly (sp) the most intact part of him was the lower part of his head (there wasn't a top) and the helmet looked pretty good too
Bike wasn't too flash neither!

WARNING DO NOT LOOK AT THESE PHOTOGRAPHS IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH. Here are the photographs of the crash.

I never caught that old thread. But umm the little story behind this accident goes the dude on the GSXR1100 was trying to hit 300kph when a kangaroo jumped out in front of him. He hit the brakes a bit hard and well, came off at 280kph.
I know all this because my mother was the nurse who attended this crash (Wasnt much use) and had to pack the bits into a little bag. Wasnt too nice. The story was verified by his mate on a Duc 999R

Worth pointing out again that none of us are "bullet-proof",I`ve been told that I should by rights have been killed in 2 accidents now and lost my best mate years back. Not going to lecture here because I`ll give it some same as most here when I get the chance but please dont ever forget the risks and do whatever you can to cut the odds.Going fast is easy, going fast safely is a skill. You can be the world`s best rider and still come unstuck so take nothing for granted. My most scary memory is of a time I did absolutely nothing wrong, didn`t even involve me directly and I didnt come off.I was waiting at a set of lights next to a Ford Fiesta, car piled straight into the back of it ,shoved it across the junction and onto it`s roof.Driver of the Fiesta had done nothing wrong, prat in the other car totally at fault. If he`d chosen my lane I`d possibly be dead or at least in a Wheel-chair right now,I got home fine then couldn`t stop shaking for hours,it`s that easy to get wasted, take the piss and it`s even easier.

I've had one of them.
Stopped at lights.
Lady stops behind me.
Kid dosn't stop behind her...
1 written off Nordie and I hurt my little finger on the mirror stalk hopping off as the bike started to move.
The only thing that stopped me having my legs crushed was that her car got stuck on top of my bike.
Bought the bike back for $500 and got it back on the road $1000 later :2thumbsup
Got another Nordie with the insurance money :love2:

There is intelligence out there......don't beam me up just yet Scotty. We probably all have some "what if...' stories, & that's just my point. The extreme results are very unpleasant, no matter whose fault, & we are the most vulnerable when it goes tits up. We need to constantly remind ourselves of the risks that we take.
