Hi Guys/Girls
Doing up a ZXR250 for the missus to learn on, and need a couple of things to get it on the road.
Namely - A Fuel tank, dents okay but no rust holes!
After the brake hose which links the front master cylinder to the splitter on the bottom triple clamp. Rubber or braided okay, even a rear one will fit at a pinch.
Air inlet pipes from fairing to tank.
Front indicators, (these are same as rears, 400, GPZ etc, so long as they are original type with kawasaki part numbers on lense - not Taiwan knock offs which don't pass re-vin process!:shit:)
Finally, a pair of tyres - 110/70-17 and 140/60-18. Must be wof-able, or look at stunningly cheap new ones!
Cheers - Nigel

FYI - the air inlet pipes are purely cosmetic in nature. They does not serve any real purpose...

The front indicator assemblies are about $70 new from Kawasaki. I might have a pair of old slightly damaged ones I could sell you. But I currently haven't made my mind up about whether I am going to use them myself or not...

The front indicator assemblies are the same for just about every faired Kawasaki between '89 and '99 I believe. So it should be possible to find some at a wrecker somewhere

Thanks Mikkel, I'll keep you in mind if I can't get some mint ones.
Aware of the airpipe wankfactor, They are actually there to cool the top of the airbox and increase the density of the intake charge for what its worth.
Although on my 93 ZXR400RR SP that I used to race we actually used them to pressurize the airbox (it was a sealed carbon fibre one that took up the whole space under the tank and down to top of gearbox - huge!) I also lowered the radiator and had another bigger inlet in the bottom of the top fairing leading into it as well. It had flatslides and took some jetting but the thing was a jet. Well, for a 400... Used it to win F3 National Championships 96/7 season.
Of course, its not a patch on the sheer ball tearing power of a 4 stroke 250

Getting mint ones are easy - at $70 a piece ;)

I can't see that making any measurable difference. The airbox is made from pretty solid plastic and wouldn't transfer a lot of heat in any circumstance.

Sounds like a bloody nice bike! :niceone: You still have it?
Anyway, from the 400 ccm and upwards the air-duct do serve a real purpose yes :) The intakes and pressure chambers on the zx7's are quite large

Tried to email you back but it would not go through, i have an A model tank...wont fit sorry...have full front brake assy but its on trademe for 150

no indicators, but for revin you do not need OEM indicators, so long as they have the E mark stamping you will have no problems.

Cool, thanks for the help guys, been out of the road bike game for a while so not sure just how anal the inspectors are these days!
Tracked down a mint C tank for $130, which makes it not worth fixing the rust holes in mine!
Re: My old SP, no I sold that in 97/8 as a road bike as I needed the money towards a new CBR600 for 98 season. I think the guy stripped all the goodies off it and replaced them with standard 400 stuff and resold it. Shame as I look back now it would have been nice to have kept it as a kind of Trophy!
It had the close ratio factory gearbox which made it a prick to launch off the line but once you were up and going it was fantastic, for street circuits we used to put a normal one in. The crank webs were knife edged, and it was lightened and polished/balanced. We ran no flywheel, and total loss ignition but other than that the bottom end was standard. It had a weird, twin muffler exhaust - Nassert? I think, the mufflers which were both on the RH side made it look like a fat RGV from a distance... they made it generate a lot more torque which it needed with no flywheel and rev-happy tuning.
Kawasaki NZ lent me some Factory Cams for the Nationals that year after the North Island rounds and it made a big difference esp at Teretonga on that long, long straight.
Ahh... the memories... sniff :crybaby:
Cheers!
