Hey ... ChCh girlies!! MERRY CHRISTMAS ladies! :grouphug:

Thought I had better pop in here and pass on my warm fuzzy best wishes for the big day tomorrow. The way things are going, if I dont do it now, I WILL forget!
Im 4 doubles down, so still sober, though illegal to drive.
Pffft ... hubby Just jokingly told me to slow down as I have to cook!! My reaction? Well thats going to be interesting!
 Ohhh hes such a charmer!

Im not going anywhere this year for xmas, YAY!!
My first xmas at home in 15 years! Ive always had to travelled far for xmas, and having to be on best behaviour, so looking forward to it this year, and being naughty! And yep, Ive already started much to my 12 year olds disgust. Party pooper he is! :Pokey:

As for New years, don't know yet. More than likely travel for that event

Hey ... anyways ... have a fantastic day tomorrow. :headbang:
If you are travelling, do be carefull as there are idiots on the road in a rush, if the ChCh traffic is anything to go by.

I'm keen on getting out Thursday, and will prob be along tomorrow if I manage to get my bike in for it's service tomorrow.

Is anyone up for a night of watching Motogp dvds - I just got home to find the 2008 review here. I'm sure we could turn it into a bbq or something ...

And, would anyone like to come to Kumara this weekend (Sat night) to see a friend of mine singing? She is in a band called Retrovision - they do old style rock and roll music, good dance stuff. The same band that played at the Wheatsheaf tavern rally, which was rained off. I'm thinking of camping if the weather is good, not sure what is there but it's not far from Greymouth. Would be good practice if you're thinking about doing the Woodstock rally at the end of this month. :)

We just came through from Punakaiki today, and the roads were lovely ~

it's nice to be home - have lots of gardening to do, but already keen to get back out there and ride while the sun is shining

Thank you! It's good to be back - I've been telling everyone all around the Sth Island what a wonderful bunch of ladies there are riding in Chch now :)

Oh yeah, I WILL be going. :) That's the plan anyway. It was fantastic last year, I really enjoyed the ride and the atmosphere, and the wake-up in the morning as some good keen man piped in the sun.

I agree, although when school's out I think I am pretty luck to get to run away with my one. Thank goodness there is only him though, would be a struggle taking any more on the back of the bike. My work would like to see me back, but he comes first - he won't be ten forever, and in a few years time he won't want to be seen dead with me, so I'm making the most of it while it lasts. By the time school gets back in I'll be climbing the walls tho' - LOL.

Good to hear you are out there on your bike enjoying yourself! I haven't heard back from any of you since our great coffee catch-up at the Nor Wester (you all had my email but I didn't have your's) so I thought I look you up here - and so I did!
Anybody interested in a ride next Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday - let me know! Happy riding!

(Gulp, guilty - and I have your travel brochures still here too)

Well done finding us, good to see you here, welcome to Kiwibiker! I think I can come for a ride - by Thursday I'll have my bike serviced and housework all done. Maybe we could do the scones and coffee thing again - last ride was great.

Although, there is a chance also that because I will be finished all my housework by then, I might tootle off to show Little Boy another part of the country before school goes back and I lose the freedom of choice ...

Hope you've managed to get a few rides/work in over the silly season.

Ride on Thursday (15 Jan) - leave 10 am Nor Wester Amberley or 10.30 am Rangiora Mobil Station to ride to Springfield via Loburn, Glentui, Oxford and Waimak Gorge. Meet 12 am Springfield at the Cafe for lunch, then head home again. It's not that exciting roadwise but we meet my friends from Wellington in Springfield who are coming through on their way from Mayfield.
And then it's party time on Friday! Woodstock Rally is on the 30 Jan, so doesn't coincide with my BBQ (16 Jan) AT ALL. Drop me a line for directions - I'll expect to hear from you!!!!

It was fun, I love being on the track..no cars, no gravel or potholes to contend with, just getting to know the bike better.
Very hot though, and I managed to get sunburnt and dehydrated!
Next time there's one on I'll let you know in better time so you can go :) I certainly can recommend track days, tho doing one with more actual instruction would be more useful I think..

Can you give me an idea of a typical ride? Do you eat before you leave or find somewhere enroute? Back in CHCH within a couple of hours?

We have set routes, so you can check on the thread as to where we are going. THey still havent all been decided but Phoenixgtr(organiser/fiance!) and I have decided that we are doing "Wet's Route", up dyers, along summit road to sumner, round the bays to the Wheatshef. Pays to eat before if you can unless you are happy with hot chips at the pub. Usual rides take an hour to destination, as the aim is to be back before 10 (for learners and restricted riders). There is usually a leader and Tail end Charlie and heaps of riders are happy to keep an eye on ya if you are not confident.
Look forward to seeing you there!

So tomorrow at 10.00 at the PEG (the Belfast tavern just before the northern motorway starts.) view to leave at 10.30. Head north to amberley regroup there take the back road back to ashley out to Loburn and the Ashley gorge. Lunch in Oxford at Cafe 54 (?) Those who want to can then head out to Hororata to visit the hogs at the rally and anyone who doesn't want to can make their own way home!!...

Nice to have two learner ladies - Qof the H made her way over with her TIMG and Fireliv's flatmate came along for the ride as well. Was great to end up with a bunch of 8.
H.O.T and I made our way over to Hororata after the lunch intending to drop in a say hi..... just as we were leaving we were spotted by wofman and ended up being entertained by some of the KB blokes and then the stunt bikes. Naughty girls we had our own party at the fence LOL Lots of fun though.....

if it wasn't already half sorted I'd say yeah a weekend would work, but it is half organized already. We will be astride our bikes.

The plan is to ride on a Monday morning and then meet at the Speights ale house in Ferry rd. There is a heap of room for those who work to come on their bikes during the lunch hour just for the lunch and the photo.
Just gotta finalize the details as to which Monday it will be and where we will ride to before lunch. Certainly won't be a long one.

Biketoberfest wasnt bad for first time running, any excuse to wander round, look at bikes, drink and EAT (Ya get that one HOT ;)) hehehe
So now the R6 is back up n running, WOF and Reg sorted, suspension adjusted for me so its super comfy now and new spark plugs which it aparantly desparately needed so running heaps smoother.. so Im itching to get out riding again!!

Hey Gals!!
As most of you know there is an article in the process of being written about Gal bike riders in Christchurch.
We are now at the point of having the press photographer come out to take photos.
So the lunch run for Monday the 9th of November is a go ahead.
Meeting at the Burger King car-park in Moorhouse ave at 10.00 am for a 10.30 departure. Riding up and over dyers pass around the bays to Lyttelton for a latte stop.
Then on over Evans pass down into Sumner with the lunch happening at the Speights Alehouse in Ferry road between 12 and 2.
There are a few of you who can't ride due to other commitments but have said you would come for lunch on your bikes.
This was planned in such a way that we could get as many gal's together at once. The carpark at the Speights is big enough on a Monday to accommodate a line up. The photographer seems to want a shot from a scenic spot though so once I've spoken to him I will know if we are taking one at the top of dyers or at the evans pass carpark..
See you next week and drop me a pm if ya think you can make it......
cheers
RQ

anyone keen?

For those that don't know- if we call ahead off time the star & garter at Waikari can sometimes make yummy scones-jam & cream.
From Waikari we can decide if we want to do the scargil or the leader valley loop.

Hi Gals,
I'm hanging out for a cooler pair of pants to wear that are slightly armoured - I'm riding in a pair of dry riders with the lining zipped out but on even slightly warm days they just stick to me and I can't get them up and down to go to the loo for goodness sake! And actually they stick to me so badly that after walking round for a while I have to do a little dance to wriggle the knees up to the right place and even then I'm totally uncomfy riding. I'm not brave enough to ride in just jeans anymore. I've seen a heap on-line and read all the recommendations for QMoto and Draggin on here but sizing is so confusing it would just be easier to try them on. Is there anywhere in CHCH that has stock to try on?
Thanks a bunch
x

Oh no what have I started now? Thought I knew what I wanted and now I've tried on all these different pants and totally confused myself. Think Hamptons jeans win so far but I'm not convinced they'll fit over my boots so have to go back tomorrow... Didn't try on the Draggin in the end because they don't have kevlar shells on the knees and I think I really want the extra protection. And also tried on some leathers but couldn't get a comfy fit - i know leathers won't be that cool but they seem the most protection and at least they won't stick to me. So might try the leather shops tomorrow. Was totally surprised at how much there is to choose from!
Cutie-pie shop guy in Pitlane too - does he belong to anyone??? Think he might have served me when I went in for my new battery last year - anyone need anything I can pick up from them :innocent:

No haven't tried Budget - think I need to take another day off work to get round all these places. I had no idea there was so much to try on in CHCH. Reckon the Cargo Dragons suggested by HelenOfTroy look the best so far - wondering if I would feel safe in them on a very hot day with a pair of KNOX style knee protectors? Still think I want leathers for cooler days anyway. The hunt continues...

Thanks for the info on Budget and also that's (sadly) what wanted to hear about Draggins - think they would be fine round town on a very hot day but don't think I'd wear them on the open road. Haven't had any slides of my own yet (unless you count going over the handle bars pulling over into a hard shoulder covered with gravel - my lovely tutor pulled over there on purpose to see what would happen) so can't imagine how hard the floor feels at even 50 k, let alone 100). Got hit by a Lada Riva as a 16 year-old pillion in a school skirt :nono: doing about 20 k - nice scar on the knee to prove it.

So leathers first, Draggins later I think...

It is a small world & you probably know some off the same people, including LaRikin, especially Guzzi people if you have had yours for a while.

My complete lack of riding skills don't phase me too much, I just bumble about and grin but I am always up for improving
