View Full Version : What kind of parking is this?!

In the motorcycle parking on Fort Lane in Auckland CBD this person has been parking there lately. He/she is taking up the space of 4 bikes! :2guns: And just beyond this (just after the parking sign pole) is dotted yellow lines, parking on the yellow lines results in a $60 fine. :argh:

HAd a scooter do that in the Jim2 Memorial Park. Dragged it into the middle of the road and left it there.

Looks like reasonably sized bike, can you move it to give them the message? There is an ticket that parking wardens can dish out called "Inconsiderate Parking" $60. If you can get hold of a warden then lead them in that direction.

Is that a freakin goldwing. Quite possibly if parked at 90 degrees it will jut out of the parking to much, and angled would be good but that would jut out and take up a lot of space. I think the reasoning is that this way two bikes can park next to it, whilst allowing other bikes to park at 90 degrees. If on an angle it would mess everything up due to it being so big. Only way I can rationalise it.

I bet there is a fugly scooter hidden under that. Best thing is to put a bag over it...

It started parking parallel in the past week or so, before that it had been angled. Bikes COULD park next to it, I've seen this, but then how would it get out?

I'd write a note asking that they return to their previous style of parking and pointing out that this way is inconsiderate/selfish. Stick it on the bike or cover where they will find it. I'm sure they must know better if they previously parked the other way!

Well their previous way of parking was slightly angled, so it still took up the space of 3 or more bikes.

Yup. Best option. A nice note placed in a location that the owner will easily find (under the cover, on the bike?) suggesting that parking in a way that allows other bikers to share the park would be appreciated... or they will have their bike moved without their permission. The choice is theirs.

URL (Uniform Resource Locator)
An Internet address (for example, http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz), usually consisting of the access protocol (http), the domain name (www.kiwibiker.co.nz), and optionally the path to a file or resource residing on that server (/forums).

See your address bar above :woohoo:

A note left on it should do the trick.

If that fails a spray can on the bike cover saying: "I'm a greedy inconsidetate Slut "

if that fails , use your imagination...

lol we had a guy do a similar thing with an 1100cc beast over at uni

normally we just move scooters/retards out of the way, but this was so big we we're afraid we couldn't stop it if it fell over

left a note showing how we all park vs how they parked, with name and phone number if they had any questions

never seen them since....

fuck it's only a footpath, let it jut out

or considering a goldwing is practically a car minus a few wheels, just use the goddamn pay and display!

parking a goldwing in a bike park is just cheating the system on a technicality....

It ain't no footpath, its a lane - trucks do use it

A retard who drives a pos like that is unlikely to give a shit what anyone thinks.

If it bugs you that much, walk across the road and have a word with plod, I'm sure one of 'em will be more than happy to annoy a 'biker'

Or make a big poster, hang it above the retards bike, take photo, leave photo on bike - just in case retard fails to see poster is meant for them.

If you had a bike of that size, and parking 90 degrees would put it into the narrow lane where quite a few trucks use, what would you do? Genuine question here, because although it is inconsiderate to park like that, I don't know what else he/she could have done.

skidMark
2nd July 2008, 18:00
Judging by the size of it it seems the best option, i think lengthways it would actually go past the yellow line.

Also did your pics really need to be THAT big?

if it was a narrow lane, and the bike was that big and I couldn't park anywhere else that was close by for all day and if I angled it a truck would eventually plow into it, then I would park like that too.

A goldwing is a bike, it's a big one but still a bike and very cool I reckon. None of this piece of shit crap. He wants to ride that fair enough.

but by choosing to bring a two wheeled car into the city, and choosing to park like that rather than paying for a car park (maybe use any of the nearby parking buildings?) he's just denied about 4 other bikers from parking there

by the cover placed over it i think it's safe to assume he intended to be there for a while too

very inconsiderate and selfish imo

(and i'd be saying the same if it was a busa or any other long wheelbase bike, this isn't just because it's a goldwing)

There's a Parkright building nearby, maybe 5min walk, that is free to motorcyclists, but maybe this location is more convienient for the rider (closer to his/her work?).
