I found it disappointing that this jungle hostage rescue did not involve the use of chainguns.
Obviously some mission planners missed the memo about Tom Clancy being required reading.

That was plan b:
"Another 39 helicopters had been standing by, prepared to encircle the rebels and hostages if the rescue failed, Defence Minister Juan Manuel Santos said."

Assuming they had chainguns, that would have been way cooler.

Deceit's all very well and good, but it doesn't make up for the lack of chainguns.

mmmmm Yep a party with out alcohol seeing there seems to be some liver malfunction amoungst the captives !
watched it on the news this morning - just fantastic!
The lady gave a press call and already is campaigning to help the other 700 people still held as hostages there.
That is one strong lady - and I got to say it put a smile on my face knowing that there is someone out there having such a fucken brillant day!

a party doesnt have to have alcohol to be a good party, just celebrating that they are home safe and alive would probably do it!

lol...I was actually more thinking of her two kids, who haven't seen their mother for seven years. How do you reconnect, how do you pick it up from there?
I am sure it is the choice any parent would have to take when getting involved in a job like this, but still...

Something that caught my eye was the NON machine gunning of the 58 rebels who could easily have been mown down but weren't in a gesture of goodwill.
Hopefully that keeps some of the other captives alive...

Chaingun vs. Gatling guns. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chain_gun#Distinction_from_Gatling_guns)
I never realised what the difference was before.
