A couple of times I guess.
First and lesser was when I caught a 14.5 pound trout fly fishing. Made a few local papers and got me the undeserved reputation of being a good fisherman. (It was really just my lucky day. Wee bit of skill and a lot of luck in many ways.)
My major dose of 'fame' was when I won a 'Pay Clerk of the Year' award ahead of about 600 other nominees. It hit the papers and living in a small town at the time, many people knew me. I had to go to some event at my daughter's school a couple of days after that hit the papers and I got a feel for what it must be like to be a bit famous because everyone wanted to talk to me about it. While I appreciated the recognition of my achievement, I got a feel for how claustrophobic it must be being truly famous and being recognised and either stared at or approached wherever you go all the time.

And Tearaway have a column on minimoto's. When they called upon Wellington riders, I answered. Been in the last 2 issues. Possibly in the next few.
The minimoto has been a great investment :2thumbsup

Believe it or not, but I posed as one of the sons of Noah for an illustrated Bible published in England in 1992. Unfortunately my set of photos has not survived the divorce and I never bothered to write down the name of the publisher. So no proof (unless one of you folks can think of a publisher that printed an illustrated Bible in England in 1992).

1999. My oldest son (then about 3 yrs) & I were interviewed for TV on a native tree planting day on Quail Island (Lyttleton Harbor)
I spent 4 years taking on the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board, with regards to their widespread system failings at my youngest sons premature birth, 6 years ago.. which left Alex, at a few hours old, in a coma in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at Wellington Hospital & not expected to live. None of our nightmare should have happened! I got ACC & The Health & Disability Commissioner on board to investigate. They found the Obstetrician, the midwife & the whole NMDHB all in breach of the consumers rights! Nelson Hospital have since turned themselves upside down to make sure it never happens to anyone else! The ultimate result was a nationwide review into the Strep B Policy! The 4 year process consumed my life & nearly destroyed me.. but I would do it again tomorrow if I had to! :stoogie: (had a couple of big articles in the newspaper)
Organised the Nelson Rescue Helicopter Fund raising ride a couple of weeks ago..

While playing cricket in the UK in 2001 I was asked to be in a Marie Claire article - basically I met with 5 women (all at different times) then give my opinion on which one I'd consider bonking. Got a free pizza for lunch, 100 quid and a free return trip to London from Bristol. I've still got the mag, shit it was funny...
Also appeared in a low budget movie that was also filmed for a documentary for Inside New Zealand. Been on 1ZB a few times talking about Home Entertainment stuff, and also a columnist for Tone Magazine. Phew.

Re bikie stuff:
- In a bikie gang in a crappy movie many many years ago in Sweden.
- Articles with custom bikes in some magazines here and overseas.
- One page "Life style" look at a bikie with pic and bla bla in 80's in Sweden.
And some other non-bikie related.
So probably adds up to 15 min and 7 seconds...

I made it to TV1 last Saturday - am a puppy walker and since Bayleys are a major sponsor of Guide Dogs, we got to take the pup and the family to the Magic game. Half time we had a walk around getting fundraising money and since my puppy is still a bub, she got a little overwhelmed and I picked her up only to have Sky news cameraman get close ups of my girl. Came home and watched the Netball and there at half time was my puppy in all her glory and me unsuccessfully dodging the camera.

There is no 'apparently' about it. If you've seen the movie (and I know you have ya sick perv...) you won't get the full effect as unfortunately they didn't shoot it in widescreen so a fair bit of the backdrop has been cropped (not as painful as it sounds...).

Been in shortland street countless times, some extra roles, some talking lines (shit pay, and shit service, Shortland street sucks.. and they recycle people!)
Was an extra in the first Narnia movie in the train station scene at the beginning of the movie. That was awsome, paid really well and was fed like a king.. Pavlova's 3 feet wide and 7 feet long.. 4 of them..
Done some Philips Printer advert,
Done some council water safety advert,
Was in the papers when I designed some fancy gizmo accessory for an MP3 player when I was in high school.
Had my old electronic's company in the papers too, started as another high school project.. sold that to Dick Smith's for a tidy sum.
And some other things aswell.. Getting in the newspaper's is easy.

Well I've just graduated from the NZRTS (New Zealand Radio Training School)... came fourth overall (bragging rights please!!)
Well along with radio is also on air work, obviously. So I can pretty much say I've had at least ten hours of fame, since we did on air work on a small radio ststion that nobody has ever heard of before (XFM, 106.7FM btw). Also did a bit of work last year every friday on GOFM 107.1 Friday afternoons 3-5pm. Good fun.
My fifteen minutes of FAME, would have to be sitting alongside Grant Walker, he was assessing some news reading work that I have prepared for him, and during his assessing of my work, his big expensive phone rang... "Grant speaking" he says in his deep voice that I oh so need. Turns out they were planning the start of the winning wheel of fortune, and I heard the whole conversation, including all the problems and stuff.
I should sell my knowledge on TradeMe

Although when I was 11, my disembodied hand appeared on TV floating above a crowd of my classmates, as I waved frantically to ask a question of some Mrkn movie star visiting our class for some weird reason.
My ex-brother-in-law used to be in the Rheem hotwater cylinder ads.
And my current brother-in-law was on TV (last year?) spinning the Lotto lucky wheel thingo (won $200,000).
And my niece went to Mrka when she was young, to film some ads or summat (made a shitload of money from it).
I myself have a cloak of unnoticeability that prevents me from appearing anywhere. Only cops are immune to not noticing me.
Apparently...
There aren't even any photos of me on KB, as far as I know.

I did 15 minute adverts for a car company I worked for on CTV, a local station down here (yep, the big time). Had to fill in for my manager one day, the owner of the company was more impressed with my performance than his and I got the gig. I did that once a week for about 6mths. Also have done live radio cross overs for sales promotions we had at another yard. When I was much younger I was in a crowd scene for a locally produced national comedy featuring one of NZ's most prominent comedians of the time, it was a nothing part, you only saw me for a second. But me and a mate followed said comedian when he went off for a walk by himself. We kept well out of sight, as he was constantly looking back, until he finally found a place to sit and lit up a doobie.

BBC News, 1986, Tottenham v Arsenal, streaking across the pitch, fined 200 pounds and never got to see the video, but it was on You Tube a few years ago under 'Flabby Streaker'.
Got a cheer at Tottenham for the rest of the season after that
I'm English, we get our kit off for anyone, right GOONR....!!

At the time I was so nervous about the race I didn't even notice the camera in front of me when I went to collect my relay baton
Fortunately I ran well though not as fast as most of the other people. I trained with the guy in the interview in Dunedin and he is the current NZ cross country champion.

On TV(Closeup and Crimewatch) and the front page of the various papers during 1987-91. As there was a funeral and a trial involved, it wasn't much fun.
More fun

I only have a few split seconds of fame, in a music video.
Lucky that, it would be embarrassing if people were able to recognize me...

And a real good one it was too, Mom.
I made it to the front of the Taranaki Daily News last year, and the back of my then 10 or 11-year old head was in a Doctor Who episode. An early one. Patrick Troughton was the Doctor then, AND it was a dalek episode. Scared the crap out of me, those things.
