Tank

Not my bike - just my helmet.
I wasn't impressed with the sharp ratings my helmet received and I was hoping to change my helmet come spring anyway (when I had some more $$$ available). But I wasn't wanting to be forced into changing it now - esp. with a ton of big bills coming up :angry2::angry2:
Anyway - In the garage, when to get helmet off top shelf (note to self now store helmet on low shelf), and caught a scarf that was there for really cold days - causing the helmet to fall about 6ft onto concrete floor.
Made a sound that could best be described as 'not good'.
I look on here and found that it can normally be claimed on household insurance - so I call my insurers BNZ Premier care.
Process went like this:
Me: I fucked my helmet - help!
Them: Can you a bike shop to check it out.
Me: Yup (Jumps on bike and goes to Cycletreads - returns with letter)
Call them again - they answer in 2 rings - I give them the case number
Them: Can you read the note please
Me: Reads note
Them: Please hold while we call cycletreads and make sure its a business (Place me on hold for 1min 30 sec)
Them: That's fine Tank - all approved for full replacement value less $150 excess. I know that you need to get a new helmet quickly so Ill fax this approval to them now - it will be at the shop waiting for you when you get there.
Whole process once I had the letter took less than 4 mins - Now thats AWESOME service!!!!
So lessons for the day:
1 - Keep helmet on low shelf
2 - Claim on house hold insurance if you do something stupid
3 - Use a really great insurance company - I can fully recommend BNZ
As for what helmet - I loved the look of the Nolan flip face - and I saw that a new one was coming out in the next couple of weeks - so talking to Cycletreads to get me the new Nolan N103 - looks an awesome helmet. Ill post a review in the appropriate section when it arrives.
