The dream run had to end sometime.
Monday morning, 8.15 am. Paremata Roundabout. 'twas a cold, wet morning, and I was running late for work and pushing the bike. No dramas however, until the roundabout.
I'm coming around the roundabout and some clown decides to beat the traffic and pull out of the Mobil station into the path of the car in front of me, which, quite rightly, emergency brakes.
And stupid Survival Reaction #1 kicks in before Mr riffer can say "don't brake so hard". But it's too late... Lose the front end, and the bike goes down faster than a cheap porn actress. Head whacks straight into the ground followed by hand and shoulder, then bike.
Jolly good of me to take the impact and prevent the bike getting too munted.
Anyway, got away with mild concussion, a sore hand and shoulder. The impact cured my back which has been sore for about three weeks. Must have been just the right sort of chiropractic.
My insurance company (Vero) have been brilliant. New gear within 24 hours. Took the opportunity of getting a nice wine red Shoei Multitec to match the bike, and took a day off work to chill.
I noticed I was a bit squirrely on the first right hander getting back on but that soon settled.
Onwards and upwards...
Here's some piccies for the curious. Bugger all damage really. New mirror, indicator, possibly new muffler needed. The rest I can sand and bog out.
edit: notice pic 4 - you can see where the tyre let go.

House and Contents.
I recommend Vero. Bloody amazing service.
Car in front stopped. One ambulance and police car attended.

I'm also glad to here you've gotten away reasonably unscathed (we'll you anyway and that's the most important thing) but no one needs that shit though...

Bummer! Sounds like an experience familiar to myself
Good thing you didn't get hurt to badly. A mild concussion is a funny thing - I had mental diorrhea for a couple of hours when I had my similar crash.
While gear is covered by house and contents, I do believe that Vero also covers your gear in a spill (you might have to check an additional box, I can't remember) - as such there should be no need to use the house and contents in this case.

Bike is covered by separate insurance Mikkel, and with a $750 excess it ain't worth claiming.
As for the mental diarrhoea, same here - really "spaced out" and kept repeating myself. The wife hardly noticed LOL.
Nasty - mirror and indicator won't stop me. I'm still riding. :)
Col - two words. Foxtrot Oscar.

K&N air filter goes on too while I'm at it.
I can do the bodywork. She'll be mint again.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I had exactly the same with the ZXR - excess was $400 and repair was $700 didn't bother claiming and suffering the premium increase.

It was indeed spacy! I felt everything was like a deja vu - I didn't have trouble focusing on the rest of the braking exercise we were doing when I came off, but after I got off the bike and back into the class room my mind was just all over the place. I didn't think much of it at the time and I drove the car and trailer back to Chch at the end of the day.

Glad to hear it all turned out OK.

Vero, you say? I shall investigate their offerings. I've grown a little disillusioned with AA Insurance over the years.

Well, you got off light really. Lucky boy.
Looking at that front tyre...it seems very new and not had a full scrub yet. Wouldn't have helped.

Yeah i do notice, noticing especially how far across the scrapes on the tyre start, so hang on this was in the wet, and you were cranked that far over, in traffic?
How you survived 53,000 k's is beyond me.
You must have been riding like a cock.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
yeah nice one Mark.
Seriously though, the reason the skids go all the way to the edge is because the front slid while I was leaned over under brakes, not because I was hooning.
And that's 53,000 kms since my last bin. Not 53,000 kms total.
Nice troll though. :niceone:
sorry to hear about the off mate, glad to hear you're ok, and glad to hear your RF survived
pity i can't say the same thing
