but the guys are heading down Friday and staying the weekend down there. They do the trip every year I've done it once when I was still a pillion and was bored to tears at the track all day with no wheels. Chris will be there on s 04 R1 and I think he'll be accompanied by a VFR800 anniversary model, ZXR750RR, ZXR400.

Just tape up glass (mirrors indicators lights etc) you can do that on the day. Also pays to turn off headlights as the heat can melt the adhesive in the tape. For those dudes who can't turn off headlights unplug them. Some folk remove mirrors but I leave them on as it pays to know what's going on behind you. It's not a race and you can't rely on people to take the proper line. I also like to see the look on WT face when I outbrake him.

Quasievil..They usually let people who didnt get to go out first time go out the next time. (if that makes any sense to anyone?) so everyone gets a chance to go out.
People can always go Motel styles in Feilding. ("RaceWay Motel")
Would only cost about $20 each-MAX if you outta towners stay in the same unit.
Thats what lot of people do during Winter series. Its right next to the track!
Sounds like MR, RR and TS are needing a place to stay too. So get in touch and work something out!
Just an idea.

Easy to find keep an eye out in the forum to see which way everyone is going and at what time, or make your own way to Feilding, find the mobil gas station and take the road opposite. Trackdays have a slow class and it's tailor made for dudes like yourself. No pressure, no dramas, just awesome fun. No one there is out to judge other riders on ability it's purely a personal learning experience. You might have to be in possession of full leathers though. Other than that go for it.

The latest Michelin Pilot car tyres are the first tyres to contain 0% natural rubber. The tyres on your bike have sweet FA rubber in them and in 10 years, all new tyres will contain no rubber at all.

They just check to make sure you don't have any dangerous bits floating around. It's not a fine-tooth-comb inspection. They eye-ball you and your bike on the first run, making sure you're not wearing jandals and you don't have razor blades stuck to your knee sliders.
If you have bits of plastic dragging along the ground barely holding on with lockwire, they'll send you back to the pits.
Strictly speaking they're supposed to do that at Pukekohe as well, just like the 'first timers' breifing, of which I have never seen. I found the Manfield marshals and crew more professional than at Puke'. They also made everyone attend the briefing, regardless of how many times you have been through it, which is probably a fair idea.
You get the idea...

I think it has something to do with the way we drive in Godzone. I've got a mint dedicated bike trailer if you want to take a look at it and see if it meets your needs. Its Kawaski Green with three rails for wheels/tyres to slot into. Only prob it is really for Moto X bikes so fat rear tyres in rails could be an issue. You are free to have a look and see if it will suit. Also - the middle bike must mount backwards - no biggie really.

Cheers dude, that would be superb. I might trundle over tomorrow during the day if you're not working, otherwise tomorrow night if that is ok?

Quasi - I can take the trailer & my bike down to Hamiltron on the back of the Diamante, then we can swap it over and go from yours.

Can we put a bit of 4x2 in the trye slots to take the pressure of the sides of the tyres maybe ?

I guess most of you guys will be riding in the "Fast" class. And I guess the best place for me and Blue Thunder (being a 150cc) will be in the "Intermediate" class. (which is good as I'll be able to get some video of you lot doing your thing.( Don't crash WT before I get the camera working!)).

I used to think the same way, but soon found out that the only place I was getting in their way was the really fast corners. They were still faster than me everywhere else, but I learned much more from being in the fast group, and eventually clicked that they weren't suicidal braking for a double apex 200km.hr sweeper 100m later than me.

Truth be known, mate. The "medium" class is where most people see themselves, so it's normally the most full.

The fast class will be FUCKEN fast ( I will be in it after all) but the riders also have a better idea of what's going on and how to safely get around other riders.

They're half worn. Your can have (free) the rear one if you bring your 150 and play cat and mouse with me. (ie. don't just ride away from me).
I'm sure I could learn a lot from trying to catch you TS. (as long as you don't mind me knocking you off in the last session of the day in a last desperate attempt to get past you!).

I also have a Brand new (old stock) front tyre if anyone wants a cheap one.
Dunlop GPR-20F 110/80/17 Never been riden on. $75 If anyone interested let me know and I'll bring it to Manfield for you to see.

The guys in the fast class have probably been to a couple of track days before. Just stay on your line and they have to get past you!
Its not up to you to get out of their way!
Would be the best class to go in, for people with 600cc bike upwards. (providing you want to go fast.)
The racers have their own class, so will not be in the fast class. The fast class is for all the wannabe racers!! (not looking at anyone in particular...WT)

I have some that are a bit bent/shorter than usual, but they might be OK for you. If you can get into Wellington tomorrow you can have a look at them.

Saturday is not a race, it's just a track day. The idea is not to crash and if you are going to start getting onto the track for the winter series you will need all the track time you can get as you don't get much in the way of practice on a race day.

Just tell the old man that you'll take it easy. Any yes you have to tape the lights up, but that can be done when you're up there. Plenty of people (me included) should have duct tape.

For around $30 you can buy a "handlebar harness" (Oxford make one, also another brand that I can't think of) that slips onto the handgrip and then goes over the opposite side where you hook the tie down onto to the harness. Repeat with other side. We use it on Hamish's bike on the ferry - wonderful for faired bikes.

Most bike shops should stock them.

At the beginning of the day, someone takes out people who have never been to the track, so you can get to know it before you go out.
And yes there is a slow class.
The slow and Med classes have a lead rider who no one is allowed to pass!

At the beginning of the day, someone takes out people who have never been to the track, so you can get to know it before you go out.
And yes there is a slow class.
The slow and Med classes have a lead rider who no one is allowed to pass!
They control the speed.
I think the slow class is limited to 130-140km's.
You should be fine. :Punk:
See ya Saturday!

Our guys left here at 9 this morning. I think they're taking a scenic route to Palmy which will no doubt include a few back roads. Haven't heard from the so they must be OK!! They looked pretty excited about something I still haven't worked out whether it was the track day, being away from the gals for the weekend or skiving off work two hours early while the rest of us still had to work.

I'll be going but not riding as well (on the track anyway) - I think there'll be a few of us doing that. I figure it'll be good to see how a track day works (for future reference) and to hang out in the sun doing bike stuff for the day.

It was great meeting some of the KB crew at Manfield today. Unfortunately I had to leave early to fulfill my domestic duties and look after the 2 year old for the afternoon, I love spending time with my daughter but she has slept most of the afternoon, which has left me slightly bored and wishing I was still at the track. Oh well, next time I might harden up and get out on the track myself.

For those that weren't there, the weather was primo, (though a little windy) and the turn out was huge. Hopefully with such a good turn out there will be more of these events to come.

Gay bikes don't make babies :devil2: :p :moon:

Well, after a night of sickness I get to wake up at 5.40 ...AM...feeling a tad better and start getting ready to go to Manfield...kids were safely transported to babysitters and after a bit of confusion set off for my first drive to Manfield (as most the time I've gone, I had been looking at the back of a helmet). Got There without a problem .... except for a little chat with a nice young :Police: .... There were a lot of people there eary on in the day...but then I realised there was an auction going on in the front of Manfield :whocares: I was supposed to be up there filming WT doing wheelies and going fast, but the track was dirty and he insisted he wasn't going to do any wheelies ... I shouldn't have believed him

So anyway, to summarise, I got terrible footage, there were heaps of wheelies, MrMelon rode on track with a roll bar, I started to feel sick again, met some people, left early got really sunburnt on the face, almost fell asleep in the car (driving home) and didn't eat anything all day/night (cos I was scared I'd bring it up again), got home to sugarfied and sick kids.

Chain got a wicked kink in it so i couldnt get back out there :crybaby: So i watched for the rest of the day

Sorry to hear you had a stink day 150.
I saw that someone on a RG150 had come off, but didn't know you where a KB member, or that you just needed a chain to be back out there. I had a spare chain there that you could have used on the RG. :argh:

I also had a problem on the day. I got out on the track and got 1 lap done before the flywheel came off on my 150. It muched the magneto and left the bike dead with no spark. At first I couldn't figer out why I had no spark. I had brought my "Spares" bike as well, so I changed every electical component over to try and sort the problem. Finally as a last resort took the flywheel cover off to find the flywheel off the crank, broken chuck key and muched magneto.
Tho frustrating, I had the replacement parts I needed right there on my "Spares" bike. But I run into a problem. I couldn't get the spare rotor off to get the chuck key I needed. I asked around and found two guys with rotor pullers with them, but of course, they weren't the right size. :brick:
Even tried going into ANZA in P North, but they didn't have the right tool available ether.
So after coming back to Mainfield at 4pm after spending the whole day trying to get this bike going again, I put on my best :( face and told my sorry story to a group of club members. There was much violin music and "O you poor thing" to be said, but they gave me $30 of my entree fee back seen I only got 1 lap in. Thankyou Lads (and lad'esses), Very fair of you!
So I didn't get to meet everyone or get any video done of the track day.
But I did see some poser cavring up the track on a GSXR1000!
Gives me a new respect for Homo's that does! :niceone:

Hoping for better luck next time.
