Buy my DR-Z 400 SM K5 !

I want a (proper) sports bike again. I've rode this around Auckland a couple of times, it's totally unstoppable on those disgusting roads. I can't see how anything could be better.

It's taken me everywhere (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=1444000) and back again, never gave me any trouble. Except the numberplate bracket/light broke a couple of times. It's still got warranty left.

I'm selling it on trademe. Here is a link to the auction: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=167923741

Why do you want a 'proper sportsbike' again?

I'm still caught between getting a motard or a faster sportsbike. When I can actually afford it.

To do sportz bike stuff a motard can't? :wari:

Why do you want a 'proper sportsbike' again?I want something that'd be good fun at a track day, can ride around on the roads and not have to pick my moment to pass and let's face it I'm immature and like new stuff. I wouldn't mind keeping it, but keeping 3 bikes road legal and insured is just silly and expensive.

Tell ya what then, because I'm such a good mate, I'll look after it, maintain it, rego it and insure it for ya.

Then, when you want it back, you still own it!

I know, I know, I'm a good bastard.

Aprilia is banging out some fine bits of kit IMHO

These bikes are awesome. A good buy for 5k at those Kms too. Does it still have warranty?

Yoshi full system, K&N, dynojet stage 2 kit, and 3x3 mod and they go like stink.
Long stand-up wheelies in 2nd are a doddle.

Good luck with the sale. You should mention the exhaust system has like 1000kms on it.

Get a motard upgrade. It's not ground clearance that's your problem, you've just got one with shite off road suspension. There are plenty of other 'tards out there with specifically road suspension that give quite a different ride. No wallowing, no massive diving.

what is the top speed for the DRZ400? 160? I may be keen for a swap but i really need a tard that does 180kph (without extending the gearing).
Dont suppose she comes with all the packs n stuff?

Better than a regular DR-Z anyway. You get used to the softness pretty quick, but I don't think it wallows or bounces around.

The only way it'll do 180 in it's current form is if you chuck it out of a plane. I've seen 150km/h. If you took a tooth off it'd do 160 I think. If you modified it I think 180 would be possible.
Dont suppose she comes with all the packs n stuff? No, you don't want them anyway. Shitty Oxford crap.

First is a doddle, just twist the throttle. Second is a doddle too, slam the throttle upon as you rise of of the seat and go hard. First gear is too short.

Now most people think that a New bike has 2year warranty/Unlimited kms...

And when you ask the average dealer what the warranty peroid of one these bikes are they might tell you 24mths..

Now that would be wrong...And why do I know this...Because people like Winja and I know more about Suzuki's than the average dealers does..! ! !

We read the books and read the sites...

How do you get a 24mth warranty...You buy a 650 Savage/Dr/Sv and above, then you will have a 24mth warranty.

Soooooooo ring 0800789854(SuzukiNz) and ask on of the warranty techs how long the warranty is..

And you will find it is 12mths....Which is 12mths not 24mths..

How do you get a 24mth warranty...You buy a 650 Savage/Dr/Sv and above, then you will have a 24mth warranty.Dear Crazy Steve,

The regular DR-Z does indeed have a 12 month warranty. The subtlety you are not aware of is that the SM model has a 24 month warranty. Since this is an SM model, it has a 24 month unlimited KMs warranty. Check with Suzuki yourself if you like.

I know you were only trying to save me and a perhaps a prospective buyer grief in the event of warranty claim, however in this case all you have done is caused confusion.

A warranty booked, signed and stamped 24 months versus someone on the end of a phone line.

I know which one would stand up in court if someone tried telling me I was covered in the second year.
